Title: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: remdog on July 16, 2013, 10:32:46 PM So I have a brand new super soaker blaster, that I wanted to paint black with silver accents and a worn, scratched look to it. I need to know what kinda of paints and supplys people use for projects like this. It looks the blaster on the cover of republic commando: hard contact. I would post a picture but I don't know how to on my kindle fire. :(

Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: Deadcow on July 17, 2013, 05:03:39 PM I buy gunmetal grey matalic paint and a very small brush for scratches.
Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: MolecularAuto80 on July 18, 2013, 02:22:29 AM Acrylic paint perhaps? For a scratched look you could just, scratch it. You know, like paint it and then drag it across the ground a bit. Real scratches that affect the look of the hilt. Just an idea though.

Something like that would make a decent Jedi blaster or Sith assassinator type weapon. I might do this sometime. =] Though every time I paint around the trigger area the trigger sticks.

Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: Zren Tobas on July 21, 2013, 05:36:02 AM Oh nice. if its just a blaster like this though then it wouldn't matter. I might get me a new Nerf gun and mod it. That one 6 revolver one, I forget the name of it but the gun looks Star Wars to me.
Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: remdog on July 21, 2013, 05:43:20 PM The Maverick? I got so many of those things I need to do something with.
Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: Zren Tobas on July 22, 2013, 01:10:29 AM Mod them up? Give them to some friends? Do a whole squadron of Clone Commandos? Lol. Just giving ideas.
Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: CZ3RO on July 23, 2013, 09:33:42 PM I'm personally not a fan of the Maverick for Star Wars. I've never seen a revolver cylinder in anything Star Warsy.
Paint it bronze and it makes a wicked steampunk weapon though! (This isn't mine, I found it online - seen many like it in real life though too) (http://www.jeremyclough.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/steam1.jpg) Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: Malachi on November 20, 2013, 06:53:35 PM You might try getting some plastic spray paint from your local hardware store and giving it a good base coat, then get you some model paint and try a dry brushing technique. I've seen it done on other things and looks pretty good. And it doesn't break the bank either... ;)
Title: Re: Clone Commando Blaster Post by: WookieeGunner on November 20, 2013, 07:20:29 PM My suggestion.
1. First do a light sanding with sand paper to knock the shininess down. This will help the paint stick. 2. Wash the plastic dust off and let dry. 3. Spray with a black primer that is designed for plastic. 4. Paint with a metalic paint (spray is fine). 5. Coat the spots you want the metal to show through with either mustard (if a dark metalic (on light it will leave a yellow tinge)) or cheap toothpaste. 6. Let the mustard/toothpaste dry. 7. Spray with a black spray paint. 8. Let the spray paint dry. 9. Wash off the mustard/toothpaste. |
