Title: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Pyrateknight on September 28, 2013, 02:40:54 PM I am officiating a Star Wars Wedding and they asked me to be the Emperor. I will be updating this thread from time to time as more of my outfit comes together. Right now I have a FO Dark Monarch on the way. I have latex stage makeup emperor mask on the way and several yards of black linen. I do small re-enactments and believe me when I say springing for linen over cotton pays off in comfort alone. It breathes and feels better. On top of that I got rough spun so the cloak will look worn in. Hope you like my attempt.
Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Molina00 on September 28, 2013, 04:42:09 PM This sounds super cool. I can't wait to serve your Emperor turns out. A Dark Monarch is just about the perfect saber for that.
Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: elliot beckett on September 28, 2013, 10:31:52 PM That does sound cool :D I wouldn't know what to say during the wedding but I do hope that you throw in a lot of Emperor quotes and that haha Anyway, good luck with the costume and the wedding :)
Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Master Venturous on September 29, 2013, 02:41:57 AM You could always look at the groom and say "in time, you will call her master."
Also, I sincerely hope the groomsmen dress as the Emperor's Royal Guard. Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Darinus on September 29, 2013, 02:44:48 AM Theme weddings are the best, we had a pirate wedding as I was a Jack Sparrow impersonator at the time.
Get the voice down and you'll be perfect with that Dark Monarch and some linen robes. Make sure you get plenty of pics, it's going to be great. Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: elliot beckett on September 29, 2013, 02:46:23 AM You could always look at the groom and say "in time, you will call her master." Or you can say to the Bride "The force is strong in you, a powerful wife you will become" haha And yes, Royal Guard Groomsmen is a must Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Pyrateknight on September 29, 2013, 03:36:35 AM You could always look at the groom and say "in time, you will call her master." Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Kresnik on October 02, 2013, 08:08:28 PM There must be a "there can only be an apprentice and a master " line thrown in there somewhere
The craziest theme wedding I have been too was a Halloween wedding. Three rules : Must be in costume You must be in character You were sat based on the universe your costume was from The wife and I went as Death Eaters from HP and needless to say there was a Harry Potter there that stupefied and expeliarmused a few times. It was amazing how many nerds were present from the various universes ... Our table alone had two death eaters a voldemort , a Hermione and Harry Potter Then there was the horror movie character tables ... One girl was smart enough to dress up with nothing but shorts and a white Tshirt that said "campy horror movie victim" We had the main table which was all Lord of the Rings - Arwen got married to The Ranger Then we had the random table which was hilarious ... Mustard bottles, condom, random terrible costume etx The best wedding I had been to - second to my own of course but we had our wedding in a terribly un seasonable storm Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: MissLady on October 03, 2013, 09:50:53 AM Someone dressed up as a condom..... really?!... Why?! O.o
We don't do theme weddings in my culture, its not allowed but I still like cosplaying (still yet to cosplay) but my 21st theme was 'dress up as your childhood hero'. Was really fun and everyone looked great too... might do another theme for New Years this year... I still want to see pictures! When is this wedding? Also, would you have the apprentice bow to the master? :P Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Darinus on October 03, 2013, 10:18:52 AM There must be a "there can only be an apprentice and a master " line thrown in there somewhere The craziest theme wedding I have been too was a Halloween wedding. Three rules : Must be in costume You must be in character You were sat based on the universe your costume was from Sounds like our wedding, minus the seating arrangements. Loads of fun, I was Jack Sparrow and her dress looked like something Elizabeth Swan would wear. We had just over 100 people and all but one showed up in costume, he came on his lunch break from work but I guess the uniform still counts. My best man didn't exactly tell me what he was coming as and showed up as Osama bin Laden with a suicide vest. My sister and her husband surprised us, they lived in Japan and said they wouldn't be able to make it until Hook and Tinkerbell arrived. A few zombies and a couple in Raccoon City SWAT had a battle. A guy showed up in blackface and inmate stripes as a tasteless joke, a fire chief friend of ours was in full gear (in 90 degree weather), my wife's 70year old grandma was in a leopard suit... Some strange stuff but a really good time. MissLady, you should give Cosplay a shot, Jedi is a great place to start. What did you do for your childhood hero theme? The latex emperor mask is in. And I have a friend's mother starting the cloak. And I will update with photos. Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: MissLady on October 04, 2013, 12:40:55 AM Quote MissLady, you should give Cosplay a shot, Jedi is a great place to start. What did you do for your childhood hero theme? I am definitely giving it a shot. I am getting my costume ready for next years supernova. I couldn't afford to go this year. I'm posting up pictures to my costume and make up trials on a topic on this forum, you should check it out. For my 21st my partner came as Ezio Auditore and I went as Cristina Vespucci from Assassin's Creed. It came out not long before my birthday and I have a slight obsession with video games characters so... yeah. My dad and uncles came as the Arabian nights, mum went as Cleopatra, another uncle was Scooby Do and I had my cousins as superman, mini and mickey mouse, Rambo, a friend came as Arthur from Merlin another came as the assassin creed doctor and heaps more. I kind of threw my costume together last minute as I organised the birthday party (yes, I threw a party for myself and paid for it... I know, I'm weird). It ended up being 2 sizes too big but was still a great night. So for supernova (which is the Australian mini version of Comic-Con) I want to go as 3 characters. Sith assassin, Padme and an American soldier (based off of Spec Ops: The Line, my latest game obsession). So far, I have a few things for the assassin and the soldier. Hope I get it done in time. I just hope no one has an issue with an Arab dressing as an American soldier or I could be in trouble... Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Darinus on October 04, 2013, 01:15:44 AM Uh oh the mask, it's starting to come together!
MissLady I'll check out that thread, I like watching people's costume progress. That party sounds like a blast, Assassin's Creed characters make interesting cosplay. So for supernova (which is the Australian mini version of Comic-Con) I want to go as 3 characters. I just hope no one has an issue with an Arab dressing as an American soldier or I could be in trouble... You're doing it out of respect for a game character so I don't think anyone will give you any trouble. Since the con isn't in the US I doubt anyone will think anything of it. We went to DragonCon this year and saw a Hitler and some SS troops... No one bothered them other than for pics. It was weird but people at cons seem to be generally friendly and non-confrontational from my experiences though I can't speak for Australia, never been. I'm going to go find your other thread now. Maybe I'll get my stuff in and start my costume post soon.Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Pyrateknight on October 04, 2013, 05:54:16 PM Well I just got confirmation from Emory after a small error with my order that the saber should be ready by Tuesday the latest. ;D
Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Zren Tobas on October 04, 2013, 06:59:04 PM I also can't wait to see this one. If I get with a Star Wars loving girl I'm going all out for her. Lol. Probably get her a Graflex and me an Archon with an Obi-wan theme.
Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Oramac on October 04, 2013, 10:22:37 PM Also, I sincerely hope the groomsmen dress as the Emperor's Royal Guard. Best. Idea. Evar. Title: Re: Performing a Marriage as The Emperor Post by: Pyrateknight on October 10, 2013, 10:45:05 PM So here is the saber. And I gotta say it is beautiful. It fits me perfectly. I am used to saber and hand and a half and the hilt handles just like a hand and a half.
