looks great and I think your grip is fine, just backwards. I mean that looks like a decent rest position from which you can easily deflect a strike from most directions, but the most sword fighting experience I have is from saber fights with my also totally untrained friend. So what do I know.

point for the excellent costume and awesome choice of FO.

Very cool and different. I especially like the asymmetrical collar and the angle at the back on the collar and heel of the boots. It all works well together.
Did you make all of that stuff or piece it together? Either is an accomplishment and impressive for different reasons.

Nooby grip? Looks fine to me, I'm also a noob and have an Initiate so take that with a grain of salt.
And don't listen to the "no smiles" rule, some of the most sinister characters are at their creepiest when they're smiling.

Smirk, smile, or nothing. It wont take away from the sinister look of your costume and saber. It's very sithly professional.

Well done. Are you looking at adding accessories, or keeping the look stream lined?

I like the rivets in the gloves, but they seem kind of small, like they don't cover the heel of your hand. Its probably just the angle.

another point for the orange saber, because orange is awesome.

They're a girlie half glove with cut off fingers in them. Lol. So they only cover half of my palm and back of my hand. 😁

Thanks. I love orange. I want to make it a darker orange. I feel like its an orange sherbet color right now.

Very nice. Simple, clean, and uniform. I like it.

there is also pyrestone orange that is a little more red, but its too late for that on you current saber, and you have to special order that color, you might try a red colour filter but that would dim the blade. with a little work you could convert the current LED module to an MLS module and order a pyrestone MLS unit, then you could switch them back and forth.

No, I actually commissioned the top and leggings together from the same gal. Then I found the boots on a different gal's shop and had to fix the way it was laced, from just a leather string to individually tied elastic bands. It looks much better, b/c the bands pull it tight and help it stay straight and not pucker in between the grommets.

I pieced it together from different small time designers, but the leggings and top came from the same gal, so the seam from the top to the pants match up. I love how it all came together.

Intimidation comes in many forms. I've never been physically imposing, but I can be intimidating.

The costume is super cool, and you look like you're having a blast. Now you just need some Jedi to oppose you.

Nice. I like everything. Its not too highly detailed like most of the time but put together nicely. Good first saber too.

Oh my.... Sith badass indeed. I haven't seen too many Sith that use an orange saber, so good job there. Even the smallest person can be intimidating, so don't underestimate yourself. Intimidation can easily be conveyed in facial expressions and in your body language. Hell I'm only 5'9" and weigh 150, but with the right posture I can be very intimidating. It's all in how you present yourself. Good job on your costume and saber choice.

Very nice costume it all comes together nicely. A point for originality.
And I wouldn't worry about being small in stature, little people can be scary too. especially petite Women and sith to boot ( or rather two boots, to the head ;D)

Great eye for that stuff, all of it looks like it came from the same place. Makes for a classy no-nonsense Sith.

Getting some work done by Venturous. Here's a simple edit I did, full makeup and everything.

That's some pretty wicked looking makeup.

Haha, yeah, tbh, I thought I looked scary when I first put it on! Crazy difference! Especially b/c I don't wear makeup most of the time.

Indeed. It's pretty amazing what a little Sith makeup can do to a face. My demeanor entirely changes when I put my costume contacts in.

Final version of my custom saber. Lmk what you guys think! ^_^

I really like the lacing you put on there. It almost gives it a dominatrix Sith look. :P It definitely has a personalized look to it and should look awesome with the orange blade. Awesome stuff.

Honestly I prefer the half-wrapped version, gives it a bit more character, but hey, it is YOUR weapon.

Wow, I just caught this and I REALLY like that customization.  Arbiter pommel plus the wrap really makes that Manticore look sweet, I almost want one of my own lol

Thanks! But it's actually a war glaive body, that why I did a full wrap. The body was too plain and it needed some added thickness up by the emitter because the outer circumference is larger giving it an uncomfortable edge against your hand.

But thank you for the criticism and compliments! I will eventually add the tiniest bit of scorching to the emitter and then it will truly be complete. ^_^

Hmm, must have missed that part... my bad.  In that case it really is a mix of all different parts, even more custom!

I really dig the simplicity of this costume. It definitely gives the impression that it's focused on combat. Point!

Thank you very much. I trend towards the simple, utilitarian style myself - so i appreciate that that is what you see in it as well. I'm hoping to add a short shoulder cape to it sometime in the future, to add a little flair without losing the combat-edgy line to it. :)

FINALLY! My FULL Cosplay!

Did a fun little photoshoot today. They aren't great, but you at least get to see the whole outfit together! (The saber is very orange IRL, but the camera always pics it up as yellow... lol oh well. my next saber will def have to be red. lol)

I did a Bane-esque makeup style, and realized that I had a cape that perfectly
complements my outfit that's been in my closet for almost a decade. What are the chances...

Great pics Aletani.  I think the "Last Laugh" pic gives you a sort of Ventress look with the evil smile and makeup.  I know you don't care for the comparison, but it's good on ya anyway.   :P   The rest are great and I enjoyed seeing the full album too.

YES! While I don't like Zannah (Love Bane and that trilogy tho) I was going for the Bane ( and by extension Zannah ) look. I'm glad it was recognizable. It's a very good look for Sith if you ask me. :)

I have a PO blade. Love the color. Orange is definitely my color of choice. The one in the pic is very orange IRL but the camera picks it up as yellow.

Mine is fire orange and definitely my colour of choice agreed that it comes out yellow on camera such a beautiful costume big point from me  :)

Haha, yes! The Joker was definitely my inspiration for the facial expression and also the name. It encompasses the unpredictability and disarming allure the Sith usually have, IMO.

Thanks, although I feel yours is just as awesome. Mine is a canon character - put at its most basic, I simply copied what was on screen. Yours on the other hand is original and required you to use your imagination, and you captured the essence of Sith perfectly. To that I offer my salute and congratulations on a job well done.

Aletani actually has a ton of background information. I have used her has my first and main RP character, so she's very well "fleshed out" you might say. Haha

I know I've commented with praise before but I really do love this original character design.
Especially with backstory. It really gives a character... character.

Have you thought about a costuming club? I know 501st doesn't take "custom" characters but The Dark Alliance and Dark Empire are two that do.

As for the story snippet, go for it! I can't speak for everyone but I'd guess I'm not the only one interested.

As far as groups, doesn't hurt to join even if there's nothing in your immediate area. You may be pleasantly surprised or you could always recruit new people. Maybe others around have been apprehensive because there aren't others in the area?

Alright everyone! This post will have two parts: one will be my revised Aletani Bio and two I'd like to hear from you guys what kind of RP short you want from me.

Keep in mind this bio is a general estimation, ever being refined and expanded on in details.

PART ONE:

Name: Lady Aletani Kaori
Species/gender: Human Female
Homeworld: Nar Shaddaa
Age/Height/Weight: 26 SY old, 5’7”, 125lbs

Appearance: (See Cosplay)
Variation: Fair complexion, Dark brown Waist length hair tied up in a straight pony tail, bright blue eyes (can transition to glowing yellow or red based on current emotional state), minimal makeup, athletic build –lean but strong

Attire: (See Cosplay)
Variation: White form fitting crop top and shorts, Wide and long black tabards with intricate silver embroidery down the length of them, over the knee black Wraid leather boots up to just below the tabard hems, black Wraid leather belt on the shorts – tabards tucked through

Belongings:
-Subtly intricate saber hilt with a fiery yellow-orange energy blade, unassuming Wroshyr pendant tied to the pommel
-Personal long-range comlink
-Nexu alpha’s claw dagger

Saber skills:
Mastered Makashi, Ataru,
Proficient in Shii Cho and Soresu

Force powers:
-Force Sense –very practiced, gives her precision and fluidity in fighting
-Force Pull and Grip and Saber Throw –can grasp/guide precisely, bringing an object/target to her
-Force Project – Can project into the minds of most beings except adept Jedi and Sith


Backstory:
(Old Republic Era, around 10 years after the Attack on Coruscant by Darth Malgus [very loose timeline estimation])
Growing up as a daughter of administrative slaves for a Hutt crime broker in the Undercity of Nar Shaddaa, she was very successful as a messenger between syndicates until she was in her late teens. Then Aletani was discovered to be adept in the manipulation of the Force by a chance encounter with a Sith head hunter, sold in a shady back room deal, and taken to Korriban. There she was trained rigorously to be weapon and shield against other Sith for a more politically minded one. Once she reached Dromund Kaas at the behest of her would-be master, the Council of Four Fleet had just begun an orbital stand-off with the Sith Empire’s fleet. Being taken aboard the CoF’s flagship and coerced into an apprenticeship, Aletani quickly realized the corruption and weakness in the current power structure.

The Council of Four craved a reform of the Empire, that all would actively build a better Empire. That Sith would turn from being controlled by emotions and petty squabbles to using their power with purpose and seeing those who serve them as contributing members of the Empire rather than inconsequential tools for their individual gain. While still embodying the Sith Code, the Council of Four’s radical ideals soon gained traction with members of Sith society and the oppressed and a turbulent civil war erupted.

Fully aligning herself with the Council of Four, Aletani trained and learned under one of the Council members as they slowly triumphed over the petty and stagnant false Sith and their dwindling supporters. Eventually she earned her place, known as Lady Kaori, in the upper echelons of the Sith under the Council after many years of war and finally decisive victory over the last of the false ones.

Having little patience for politics, preferring more aggressive tactics, Aletani became a harbinger of death and destruction to any who still opposed the Council and their will for the Empire: cooperation towards the betterment of the Empire rather than the individual. Strong and unabashed, Aletani learned from early on the benefits of using all of her talents against any opposition. Alongside the Sith Lords of the Council, the Sith Lady reveled in the Dark Side and furthered their crusade for a better galaxy with fervor.


PART TWO:

I'd like to hear from those interested:

What kind of RP short would you prefer (I'll either adapt one I've already written or write a new short story)

A. How she first came into contact with the Sith (Nar Shaddaa)?

B. How her specialized training on Korriban molded her into a hardened warrior (Competitive Elimination Environment)?

C. Maybe a solo mission? What kind of mission, where? etc.

D. Another scenario/event in her life you'd like to see played out?


Let me know what you guys think and I'll try and write an RP short.

Keep in mind life is busy, so it may take a couple weeks for me to get down something that meets my expectations for a short story. ^_^

Did you her have any missions against Jedi? Or a particular encounter with one trying to stop the Sith?
That would be my suggestion.

1st off that is a beautiful peace of writing, love the detail that has gone in on it.

Although another event in her life would also be good maybe starting her own council of four or something along those lines can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm not in anyway a professional writer but l do enjoy helping if I can so if you need any I'll be glad to help  :)
