Title: Two Quick Questions
Post by: Kibaken on June 24, 2011, 11:50:16 PM
I'm looking to purchase either the Dark Standard Issue Battle Staff ( http://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/darkstandardissuestaff.htm (http://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/darkstandardissuestaff.htm) ) or the Prophecy Battle Staff ( http://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/prophecystaff.htm (http://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/prophecystaff.htm) ) and I'm curious whether both of those are able to be removed to two separate blades with the coupler.

My other question involves sound.  I saw the YouTube video of the new obsidian soundboard and was quite impressed with what it could do and was wondering if that is included in all your sabers now or just specific models.  If just specific models, do both of the ones I linked above come with sound?

Thanks.

First Question: Yes, both sabers will come with pommels for when you want to take them apart.

Second Question: Neither of those sabers come with sound. Look in the Sabers with Sound section to view all the sabers that come with sound.

Hope that helps!  :)

for number 2, when the custom shop opens, i'm sure you can get those sabers with sound.

Yes, very true! I probably should have mentioned that as well. But also, everyone should do their homework.  ;)

The way to go to have a saberstaff with sound, would be to get 2 sabers with sound and buy the coupler...that is the only way right now to do so.

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into the couplers then.  So they'll work with almost any saber?

If by work with any saber you're talking about the couplers, the answer is no.

Some are specific to some sabers.

But you're lucky, the Prohecy got a MHS compatible pommel, that means that you can use a MHS compatible coupler and staff it with any other MHS compatible saber.

But what really interest you is sound, and you're lucky because the coupler with vents is an MHS compatible coupler.

For the Standard Issue, I'm sorry but you will had to ask for a custom made vented coupler when the CSO will be operational, it's what I think is the only solution.

'Hope that I have helped.

Oh, okay.  So in theory I would buy the Prophecy staff, two MHS compatible pommels (which I'm assuming stands for something something sound) and one coupler, and the coupler/pommels give the sabers the sound?

In fact, the pommels act as resonance cave and are drilled to let the sound go out. You can mute a saber with sound by only placing your palm on the pommel : you cut the air flow, so the sound.

And for the prophecies, I think that yes, you should have to buy a MHS pommel of an other saber : it will add some length to the saber to put the board in it and add the resonance cave.

I think that when the CSO will be running, you will be able to ask for Ultra to take a TCSS MHS pommel that could fit with the Prophecy's spirit.

I'm not saying that you can't take an US MHS pommel, just that they seems to fit much more on their respective hilts. But it's my humble opinion, I'm sure that you could prove me wrong with a pommel that YOU think can be worthy of the Prophecy's gorgeous hilt.

To sum up : the coupler/pommel give the sound a way to escape from your closed hilt. If it acts as a resonance cave, it adds depth to the sound, a subtle echo that magnify the sound. Ever wonder why a guitar isn't just a bunch of strings on a plank ? That's why : resonance cave.

Okay; and just because this is all new to me and to clarify: the pommels/coupler you linked include the sound hardware or do i need to get those separately and then use those specific parts?
