Title: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 22, 2013, 07:43:32 PM So I decided to go full black on my costume. But I'm thinking of doing the tabards a very dark grey. I think that'll look good. And my chosen saber finally will be a Blazing Red Overlord with a standard Heavy blade. I got everything figured out though costume wise. Just gotta find me some good boots. In fact we have a Boot Barn a few miles away from where we live at now and I know they always have some good looking boots that could even go for a Sith costume. The costume itself will probably be done next year though sometime when we've got more money flowing in. That's our biggest problem right now but I think I'll be able to do the saber for Christmas because that's what I asked for anyway. Wish I could get it with sound though so I can mix the Dooku and Clone Wars fonts up. But its all good. I'm good with just a stunt anyway since the saber is just for costuming. But I'm getting it with a Heavy blade anyway incase I do run into any saber duelers or if I get with a club out here in Cali. Plus this will be a first submission to a Sith costuming group I'm with. Not the 501st.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Darth Kitsune on October 22, 2013, 08:18:14 PM I would, in my personal opinion, look for something to help add to the aesthetic quality so you don't get confused as a Dark Jedi when you do submit your costume to TDA. Definitely get a cloak if possible. I would also suggest some decent belt work. Definitely look up inspiration for Sith Lords online.
I say this because when I submitted my costume, I was bumped into the Dark Jedi category. I don't MIND that, but I myself will be working on moving myself "up" in that sense into Sith Lord by working over my already made costume and changing some parts of it in order to help further the appeal I wish to make. Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 22, 2013, 08:38:13 PM I actually found a all black belt online that I like that I will be using. It has like an S shaped buckle and it just screams Sith to me. So my idea should still work.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 22, 2013, 08:43:12 PM Oh and I will be getting a black robe from Jedi Robe America for sure. Forgot to mention that. Might come kinda late though but it'll come.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Rogu3Wo1f on October 23, 2013, 06:14:33 AM If you're still looking for boots.
These are the ones I got for my costume. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151135076514 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/151135076514) They custom make them for you specifically and they ship very quickly. Only thing I'd say bad about them is the boot isn't all one piece. Plus you might want to throw some insoles in there from another shoe if you decide to get them. Damn good price for custom boots if you ask me. Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 23, 2013, 11:57:14 PM Lol. See those on Amazon all the time. They do look awesome though. But some of them always have bad reviews for the flap part the straps hold on. I'll get a pair myself and find out. I can't buy on Ebay though. I got it all figured out so no worries. =]

I don't think you're able to switch from a Dark Jedi to a Sith Lord, now that you are an official member as a Dark Jedi. Once you have a membership number, it is yours for life, so unless they remove you as a Dark Jedi and add you as a Sith Lord, I don't know that they would allow such a thing. The only other thing you could do is submit another costume in the Sith Lord category. It'd be something to ask one of the council members about. It's more like a rebuild to submit as a separate costume. While the one I have is a Dark Jedi, TDA does allow for multiple submissions in different groups or costumes from what I've read. You can get multiple designation numbers with multiple costumes. In fact, here you go, straight from the charter. Quote 3. If you have more than one costume with each one falling under a different character type, you will receive a designation for each costume. All of which can be added to your Membership Card and Membership Page. It will be up to you as to how many designations will be represented on your card and Membership page. 4. You will receive one designation number per costume type. No matter how many of the same character types you have i.e. a Traya /Talon /Zannah would all fall under the same ASL designation number. In the case of all designations, no matter how many costumes you have which fall under a single designation, you will still receive the one designation. 5. These designation numbers, once assigned to you, are yours for always… no one will ever again be assigned the same designation number. This is true, as long as you are able to modify it enough to be submitted as its own costume. Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 24, 2013, 05:00:10 AM Didn't know I was already placed as a Dark Jedi. Cool. I didn't get anything about it though. TDA rules. :P Glad they are giving me time to figure out my stuff costume wise. =] Too bad I don't know how to do the full tabards though, the folding I mean, or I would. But my costume will look good either way.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 24, 2013, 05:25:22 AM How can I tell what and where my rankings are at?
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Master Venturous on October 24, 2013, 06:58:02 AM How can I tell what and where my rankings are at? If you go to your profile on TDA forums, there is a place on the left side called "Awards & Tags". It'll say if you're an official member there and what your membership number is if you are. Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Darth Kitsune on October 24, 2013, 11:57:38 AM Didn't know I was already placed as a Dark Jedi. Cool. I didn't get anything about it though. But my costume will look good either way. You aren't. You don't have an official ranking yet because you haven't submitted your costume or anything. If you were, you would have submitted your costume and gotten a notification and even a topic posted about you, and your forum ranking would have changed (You would have OFFICIAL next to your name with a designation number). Until you do that you haven't been placed as anything. Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 24, 2013, 05:16:45 PM Where can I get a decent robe at? Even Jedi Robe America robes are too long for me. I'm only 5'5". No short jokes. Lol. I think the ThinkGeek robes would be best for me. They look good too and the prices are just right. Can't do Twin Roses. Too expensive for me. Still wanting to do me a saber for Christmas. Going Raven full in game version. =] Just can't do sound and such but that's cool with me. Only need a stunt anyway. It'll be Blazing Red with a standard Heavy blade, SS claws and normal pommel. My dream Sith saber. I might do the brown robe for a Dark Jedi look. Still not sure yet but I'll keep updates. Anyway, thanks for any info for robes.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 26, 2013, 09:32:18 PM Able to do my costume after all but I'm doing a Jedi one first. Got shirts and pants figured out finally. My mom will be able to hem the robe I'm getting from Jedi Robe America. Can't wait to get everything done. Good looking Jedi style boots will be easy to find.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 28, 2013, 06:39:53 PM Can this be used for tunic fabric? I really like all the colors. Like I don't know if the sheets would be enough to do a tunic set. Let me know. I know I'm doing a Jedi costume now so I didn't feel like flooding the costume thread. :P

Felt can be thick, itchy, and extremely heat-insulating. It's not a very breathable material. Go with cotton or something similar. Felt is more of a crafty material for small things or hats.
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 28, 2013, 07:13:06 PM Didn't really think of that. Thanks. I'll figure something out though. I'm doing my costume in a couple days so watch out for some pictures. :D
Title: Re: Re-think On Sith Costume Post by: Zren Tobas on October 29, 2013, 04:58:48 AM Can black and grey be Jedi colors for costumes? Still might do that color combo. It'll be Luke inspired.
