Title: Big thing Post by: Jammo on November 02, 2013, 11:28:31 PM So I was monkeying around with some MHS parts and did this...
(http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/p672/jammothejedi/hw017_zpsb1a135ba.jpg) Thoughts? Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Baboon on November 03, 2013, 12:21:00 AM Well I personally love the idea of long lightsabers hilts, gives you more options of how to wield it.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on November 03, 2013, 12:52:04 AM I look forward to using it on the amateur on Facebook that just criticized it...
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Baboon on November 03, 2013, 01:11:59 AM Lol, show him no mercy
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: RKHCarter on November 03, 2013, 03:04:43 AM Hmm you could probably use some quarter staff techniques with that. Modified of course so as not to touch the blade...
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Zren Tobas on November 03, 2013, 03:33:09 AM Holy S word Batman. Lol. Long ass saber. How is it for spinning and such? Looks amazing though. Is that Sun Rider's Destiny or just random cyan color?
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Master Rel on November 03, 2013, 03:36:07 AM One of my favorite styles of swords...near equal blade to hilt.
The trick for me, having used this type many many times, is a decent catch guard on both ends of the hilt. This will allow sliding hands down the length for extending the strike zone and catching the end to pull back in. I usually hold this style blade forward at a 45* with hilt up...this puts the blade at their mid section to their knees, which can be disconcerting...swinging and sweeping low then flash forward thrusts right down the center, with the full length and then recoil for the next volley... ...bricks will be shat :D Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Zren Tobas on November 03, 2013, 03:41:25 AM Sorry Errockk but Jammo has beaten you in terms of saber hilt size. Lol.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Molina00 on November 03, 2013, 03:51:45 AM That is one cool looking saber. 8)
I like your shirt too. ;) Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Zren Tobas on November 03, 2013, 05:20:59 AM Didn't notice all the Star Wars collectibles in the back. Nice. You know you're a nerd when you have Star Wars collectibles and your own custom lightsaber. Lol. As one of my dudes posted a few days ago on the Facebook fan page.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on November 03, 2013, 09:12:15 AM That's probably 27ish in the handle and that's a 36 UEHG that's losing 2 to the holder. If I jacked the 46 into it I would have even more terrible reach to push people around with.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: JEStucker on November 03, 2013, 03:50:17 PM Compensating for something, my friend says he is!
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9b/Yoda_Empire_Strikes_Back.png) I still think it's awesome though! Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on November 03, 2013, 04:21:20 PM I'm going to make sure I have something of this size at Phoenix Comic Con. People will FREAK.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on November 04, 2013, 04:55:01 AM Changed up the hilt a touch, making it maybe 3-4 inches shorter and jacked in the big stick. That blade started life at 48 inches and I actually cut two inches off of it because I kept grounding it because I'm only 5'8". For comparison, I added my AS Archon with a 32 in the second shot.

light saber claymore... nice mike. just awesome. ;D Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Zren Tobas on November 09, 2013, 07:41:36 AM Jeez that's a huge saber. Lol. Looks awesome though. Its like a Sith slayer saber.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: spectresabre on December 15, 2013, 12:13:19 AM Gate Saber :)
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: UnfairBanana on December 15, 2013, 12:57:48 AM Where did you get a 48" blade?
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Deceptae on December 15, 2013, 01:49:43 AM sweet lightclub bro.
being 5 feei 9 inches i might have some trouble wielding it tho. due to my low-ish stance i ground my 36 in blades sometimes. wouldn't be an issue if the sabers were real but as it is i think i will cut a couple inches off. what works well for that anyhow? Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Ealotech on December 15, 2013, 02:54:16 AM THE BOSS 8)
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: DarkestSky on December 16, 2013, 05:02:42 AM My lord! Would anyone ever be able to get close to you in a duel?! That is amazing! Major props!
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on December 16, 2013, 05:36:18 AM Where did you get a 48" blade? Someone on ebay was selling them a few years ago. I couldn't tell you how to get another, really. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Deceptae on December 16, 2013, 07:48:18 AM My lord! Would anyone ever be able to get close to you in a duel?! That is amazing! Major props! they would need some skill with form 5. no strategy is foolproof. in fact anyone who deems anything foolproof underestimates the ingenuity of fools. Ataru and Djem So are what I and others have mentioned my style resembles. Wise word, btw. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on December 16, 2013, 10:29:45 PM You gotta jam the thing and get inside of it to beat it, which is something I VERY specifically defend against. Dual wielding is also somewhat effective if you can defend thrusts well.

Dual wielding is also somewhat effective if you can defend thrusts well. With a highly specialized weapon like that, knowing its specific weaknesses and focusing on them in the duel is a great approach. That's one cool saber Jammo, I need some yari extensions to try that sometime! Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Xaeyon on December 17, 2013, 03:52:42 AM Dual wielding is also somewhat effective if you can defend thrusts well. I think if you're having a hard time defending against a thrust, you need a new block. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on December 17, 2013, 04:33:43 AM I think if you're having a hard time defending against a thrust, you need a new block. This thing's reach changes that game a bit, too. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Darth Nekesus on December 17, 2013, 04:48:49 AM I don't have that large of a blade but I may be able to top that in hilt length soon.
Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Xaeyon on December 17, 2013, 05:01:19 AM This thing's reach changes that game a bit, too. Irrespective of reach, a thrust (esp long weapons) should be an easy thing to brush aside Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on December 17, 2013, 05:16:39 AM Irrespective of reach, a thrust (esp long weapons) should be an easy thing to brush aside The long handle does allow for stiffer contact, I find. If one stays coiled and absorbs impact, you can hug your opponent's blade and simply slide in for a mark or contact. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Xaeyon on December 17, 2013, 05:48:44 AM The long handle does allow for stiffer contact, I find. If one stays coiled and absorbs impact, you can hug your opponent's blade and simply slide in for a mark or contact. That's if you alter your thrust to account for a block, which can be taken advantage of; if you feign a block, then without contact, the thrust will miss its mark entirely leaving an opening for a good wounding. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: Jammo on December 17, 2013, 12:39:49 PM I guess we'll never know unless by some stroke of fortune y'all can come out to Arizona and try your luck against it.

Still hours away... perhaps if people come to PHOENIX COMIC CON they can meet Jammo. Title: Re: Big thing Post by: DarkestSky on December 18, 2013, 01:19:36 AM Still hours away... perhaps if people come to PHOENIX COMIC CON they can meet Jammo. andd the convention im going to if i move in with my friends this summer.
