Title: Lightaxe or Light-hatchet? Post by: MolecularAuto80 on December 12, 2013, 11:10:52 PM So I've always thought of myself using something a little different than a sword of gun. I like axes/ hatchets (small-ish axes for those who don't know) and want to know if anyone has any idea how to make a lightaxe/ hatchet. First off, if one were to heat up a blade, does it bend and then harden in place when cooled? If so, I know what I'm doing. If not, well, that's why I'm asking the community. I'm thinking of getting an initiate v3 for the handle, and GB, CG, BR, or FO for the blade color.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk (http://tapatalk.com/m?id=1) Title: Re: Lightaxe or Light-hatchet? Post by: Hibyrd on December 14, 2013, 12:10:21 PM Wow. That's really thinking outside the box. The first thing that popped into my head were those glow sticks they sell for Halloween. The dollar store by me sold swords and axes. Here is a link to an online seller: http://allthingsglow.com/proddetail.php?prod=GNO030EA (http://allthingsglow.com/proddetail.php?prod=GNO030EA)
I'm not sure how durable it would be or even if it could be modified to be attached to a saber but it's a start. Good luck. I guess melting a blade doesn't sound like something that would be too easy, I think you would be better off finding some sheets of acrylic and cutting out the shapes you would need from that. You will still have to find a way to add the reflective film on the inside as well. Cheers. Title: Re: Lightaxe or Light-hatchet? Post by: XtheXcodeX on December 14, 2013, 03:43:17 PM if you could get your hands on plenty of Poly C (what lightsaber blades are made of), you could probably figure out a way to shine the LED all the way through the axe blade

Title: Re: Lightaxe or Light-hatchet? Post by: MolecularAuto80 on December 25, 2013, 05:27:21 PM That's what I had in mind, the bending. However if it bends one way, it'll bend another so combat could be a bit sketchy. Still though... This could be an interesting build.

Cutting the shape from polycarb sheeting sound promising. I was considering that approach. I've been trying to figure out a way to make a polycarb sword blade to go in the dark omen I just ordered. If I have any successes, I post them.

We should pass this onto Deep as an idea of a future saber design, I'd buy one anodized black with a blazing red axe blade. Title: Re: Lightaxe or Light-hatchet?
