Title: Best way to make the Reaper's design mirror-like?
Post by: The_Ronin_Jedi on April 23, 2014, 03:10:38 PM
Hello,

I want to do something to the Reaper's milled-in design to give it a mirror-like finish, but chrome spray paint doesn't seem to be very shiny from the pictures I've seen, and trying to polish it seems to require attaching something to a drill which is obviously a bit impractical to use on the Reaper's milled-in design, so what would be the best way to go about giving the design a mirror-like shine to it?

Thanks!

I feel like that would be hard to do because it is so intricate, especially without disturbing the anodizing. Everything I keep thinking of isn't practical.

I'm not sure how deep and thick the engraving is on a reaper but I doubt it's suitable for machine style polishing without a good bit of experience and tools available.

But you do have the hand option of hand rubbing them till they shine. It would be time intensive but it should be possible.

You'd just need some fine rubbing compound, and there are some really small detail type paint brushes that are foam or really short bristled that might fit in the engraving to use as a compound applicator, or you could cut bits of felt polishing cloth and use a pallet knife/dental pick or something like that as your applicator. Put a bit of compound on the applicator and run it back and forth in the engraving till you get the shine you want.
