Title: Aeon CE and Initiate V3 Modifications Post by: richmbailey on April 27, 2014, 07:16:17 PM Added some more mods to my Initiate V3 and added some simple mods to my grab bag Aeon CE.
Aeon (Added O-Ring grips and grip wrapping on the lower hilt. Added a knurled screw on the emitter). Initiate (Added O-ring pattern, alternating with painted poly washers to make a unique looking grip on the bottom part of the hilt. Black knurled screw for the blade retention). Could you post a tutorial or something? :) Aeon CE Simple Mod. a. #17 O-Rings - Home Depot has them in boxes of 10 in the sink repair section. Recommend getting two boxes. b. #18 O-Rings - " c. Black Electrical Tape d. 8/32 knurled machine screw (silver) Step 1 :: Add the O-Rings to the small section between emitter and switch section. Alternate sizes like 17,17,17,18,17,17,17,18 (the 18's are thicker and should fit in the grooves. 17's fill out the sections in between the grooves). Step 2 :: Remove top retention screw. Replace with 8/32 knurled screw (I cut mine down to fit snug). Step 3 :: Remove pommel. With the Black Electrical tape, start wrapping hilt from the first O-ring and tightly wrap it, avoiding bubbles or creases. Wrap all the way down and cover the last groove near the pommel. Step 4 :: Slide O-rings 18, 17, 17, 17, 18 down to the switch section and add them until you hit the first groove. Step 5 :: Finish adding #18 O-Rings and slide them down over the tape and fit them into each groove toward the pommel. Use your hand to apply pressure until they are snug in the grooves. Step 6 :: On the pommel piece, slide one of the #17 O-rings over the grooves until the grooves come through. Then simply screw the pommel back in place. This creates the "black" spacer between the pommel and hilt section. Hope this helps! :) Title: Re: Aeon CE and Initiate V3 Modifications Post by: The 97th Acolyte on April 27, 2014, 10:55:56 PM Oh, Electrical tape! That looks awesome! Thanks rich. Have a point. :)
Title: Re: Aeon CE and Initiate V3 Modifications Post by: Zren Tobas on April 28, 2014, 12:03:52 AM Nice mod to the Aeon. I would've put the O-Rings under the tape grip though that way they don't slide around.

I would've put the O-Rings under the tape grip though that way they don't slide around. I attempted that method first but the tape kept bunching up and it looked awful. With this method I have the tape pulled on very tight with no creases. The #18 rings are very tight in the grooves and do not move. I was able to twirl and swing away without any movement. ;) |
