The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.
 
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
 
Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."
 
Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

It's cool to know who's going to be in the movie. Now if only they would release roles that will be played. ::)

We probably won't get that for a while to due Abrams' "Mystery Box." It's not a fun marketing scheme.

Rough guess for Daisy Ridley: Jaina Solo...just a feeling ;) But I have no idea for the others :-\

Isaac, Serkis and Gleeson are all cool calls. Not familiar with the others, so far as I'm aware.

Oscar Isaac - Lead in the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewellyn Davis last year, nominated for a Golden Globe among other awards and rave reviews. Also starring in Two Faces of January right now, and getting similarly strong reviews.

Domhnall Gleeson - Son of Brendan, star of About Time which saw him bag strong reviews for his comic timing and romantic strength opposite Rachel McAdams.

I suspect that the pair would make a good Han and Lando analogue, for one :)

NO Billy D....so sad!  but who knows.  Maybe he makes an appearance down the line (There are 3 movies on the horizon)
Han, Leia, Chewy, R2-D2, C-3PO & (of course) Luke are ALL on board & reprising their original roles.. & thats about as much as we could have hoped for..Lando will be missed (for now) Full (ish) cast details are up on IMDB.
As much as I love Abrams work...Star Wars & Star Trek franchises both in the same hands...No ones had that kind of POWER since the Emperor!!

This is a good step I think with who they have, I don't really know them either, which is usually what has made for the most believable characters in the past. I am anxious to see who plays what... I really want to see a Kyle Katarn or Jaden Korr possibly but if this movie is 40 + years in the future.. IDK.. I feel like I would want to see there back stories a little closer to 20ABY or so.. but, I digress, those are EU characters, not the main ones, so trying to go off of what is there has me running in circles.

On that note, something tells me they are not completely done with casting, especially since the New Jedi Order has been established I presume and undoubtedly other characters have been yet to be introduced to this galaxy continued... I am excited but very anxious. sorry if this sounds like a ramble, but with this exciting news and little details on who is who, my vision is clouded.

While I'm not entirely familiar with most member of the Episode VII cast, I am excited to see Andy Serkis in the mix. Loved his work with Gollum/Smeagol, as Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and all the work he's done directing and furthering motion capture animation. Max von Sydow is brilliant in pretty much everything he does. Very classic style of actor and a very commanding presence, I'm curious to see who they portray. Plus (big plus) Lawrence Kasdan returns to the the writing chair, unbelievably excited to see what the man who helped shape the screenplay for Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi brings to the mix!
