Title: How are you celebrating May The Fourth this year?
Post by: Darth Mortuum on April 30, 2014, 01:00:40 AM
Just curious to see how folks here might be celebrating Star Wars day this year. I've no big or extraordinary plans myself - a movie marathon of eps 1-6 in order will be the main part of it, with some excursions into playing Force Unleashed 1 and/or 2 when the urge to join in the action becomes too strong! How about you?

A local art group is hosting their Third Annual Star Wars Art Show...  It will feature Star Wars art from local artists.  There will also be a DJ and some vendors.  Some folks dress costume, some do not.  it is family friendly, and kiddos are welcome.  Last year my daughter and I dressed up, and we are planning to do so again this year.   :)

Probably be feeding episodes 1-6 through the Blu-Ray player for background noise while working in some marathon gaming on SW:ToR.  That's one plan anyways.  My other choice is sitting at my desk listening to episode 1-6 soundtracks while trying to finish an English paper I've been procrastinating on.

I don't know if there's actually any local events around me going on that I could get out of the house to go to, though it would be nice.

On Saturday in costume. Sunday want to go to the readings, but I have to be in uniform and on Watch duty from 5:30p til Midnight on the quarterdeck. Will end up reading Star Wars then as the Junior Officer of the Deck.

Same as B1ondeange1. Our local Hoyts cineplex is having a marathon weekend with dressing up and prizes of lightsabers available.

I fully intend to use Crocodile Dundee's line... "That's not a Lightsaber... (ignites nickel plated Guardian) "THAT'S a Lightsaber!

Probably be in costume all day with saber in hand, do some pics, watch all 6 movies, play TFUII. :P Glad its on a Sunday this year though Saturday would've been nice too.

hoyts as well :) dunno if ours has all that fancy stuff but i dun care, ill be there in costume regardless showing off my lightsaber! Think ill leave the shock staff at home this time, its a bit bulky.
question is- archonsular in DVA, AB or GB? Or take one of the others? There's a few choices these days! Hmm, decisions, decisions.

Saturday is the first trilogy, so go with the Consular like Qui Gon did. I'd go with AB if you don't have CG. I'd also take the Manticore in GB - as one of my friends commented when looking at the Manticore emitter I put on my Archon; "Reminds me of Tron!" DVA could look pretty good with that as well, but the GB is probably your most colourful option to take advantage of those windows.

Sunday is the original trilogy, so I'd say the Archon would be a good choice. AB or GB.

I think I'll be putting a blade plug in my Chosen One CE and adding that to the belt clip. Still can't leave home without my Guardian though!

I like your thinking. have a point!

my manticore was a raffle prize and doesn't have QD or covertec, so using its CG in something else is out of the question for the time being (until I fit QD). There's every chance I might chuck a second saber on my belt, did that at ComicCon just coz I could (and coz I love my archonsular). Maybe a shock with the manticore emitter or something like that.

Man, I wish I lived close to something like a movie marathon. -_- Out here in the middle of Rural Shropshire, there's nothing anywhere near me. So, I'll be playing TFU 1 + 2 through... Might watch the Films through Monday though, got a day off. :D

Unless I find a theatre it looks like playing Star Wars movies / clone wars on my tv while playing SWTOR ... And of course wearing a saber !

*shrug* Probably be wearing a saber on my belt to the local railroad event I'll be at. Maybe play a flight of the falcon on my ds for the portability, or watch some clone wars or ESB that evening. :)

I gotta work that day. Other than that, playing with my new sabers! I'm sure Spike TV will have a marathon of the movies so I'll catch what I can, and hopefully I can actually watch ESB all the way through for a change. It sucks cause I always catch it near the end... I wanna see Luke disarm a Wampa again Zod-dammit!!!!

I'll probably be working and since I work nights, I'll be sleeping during the morning hours.  Hopefully when the kids are older one day, I'll be able to do more for the 4th.

Bit the same for me  :-\ I doubt there will be any sort of event in my area either?! I may also get called in to work too . . *sighs*

Well there's no event that I know of in this part of Florida, but I do have the day off. I'll likely spend it intermittently customizing my Dominix V2 hilt and maybe some reading or movie watching... not 100% sure yet.

happy birthday! it was mine yesterday (May 2nd) :)

well, just got back from the cinemas, I was one of few adults who actually dressed up (pile of kids running around in clone trooper outfits). Got a few VERY strange looks from people who weren't in the star wars movie marathon, one guy just stared at me as I walked past with a look that said WTF. Got a lot of "cool costume" and "cool lightsabers" compliments- there was a guy there with one of those Darth Maul sabers and he was like omg, your sabers are so bright!

most coolest of all but, I and my costume got recognised from when I was at Oz ComicCon Perth this year  8) the guys like "you had a double bladed saber there yeah? I remember seeing you!"

Did I have fun? Yes I did! Bring on tomorrow!

(damn camera cannot deal with how bright the sabers are :P)

Working an 8.5 hour shift, writing a 5 page paper for a class, then studying for finals.

I'm such a party animal.

well, today was just as fun! the 501st and Rebel Legion were there today, Rebel Legion asked me to join again  :D I might have to at this rate  ;) I was also told by the Rebel Legion chick who was there to make sure I come to SupaNova later this year in my costume, whether its Rebel Legion approved yet or not. She also had me come down the front of the cinema and help bring the costume competition winners down the front (two lil kids dressed up in Vader costumes). And of course it was great seeing the original trilogy on the big screen!

Met a guy who is a member on this forum but not very active, has a dark prophecy, graflex and a consular. Didn't think to grab his name, hi if you are reading this! *waves* and more proof Ultrasabers aren't unknown in West Oz, a couple of lots of people have asked if my sabers were from Ultrasabers.

I've been taking advantage of the SWTOR Double EXP Weekend event going on since Friday.

On top of that, I've been working on a new Sith Lord outfit. Currently waiting for some commissioned parts to arrive in the mail.

Thanks. Still so much left to do on it *sigh* The remaking the tabard and obi- easy. Just takes a little bit of time and I have to decide what style of tabard I want with it, which I still can't quite make up my mind on. At least I know what colour I want it!

Belt will be the next big agenda item.

As soon as I finish eating lunch, I will being the arduous task of putting on my newest costume...  Femme Steampunk Dearth Nihilus.  I was going to wait and debut it at Comicpalooza at the end of the month, buuuuuuuuuuuuut...  I finished the mask yesterday.  Also, I decided it would be a bad idea to try to put it on for the first time away from home, in a hotel, the day I plan to wear it to a con.  Yeah, no bueno.  So, test run today, weeee!
