Title: Should I do it?
Post by: Tengen Toppa Angel X on July 24, 2011, 09:52:38 AM
My friend has been wanting another US for awhile, and he offered me his MR Darth Maul (converted) for it. Everything on that thing is amazing, its blade is a litle beat up but its strong. The sound is nice, but one thing I LOVE about is that it was powder coated on some parts black so its looks like an awesome Single hilt. My only thought is that i do dig my Dominix alot due to its hue, but i found out i have crap to make a Sith-ish costume. So what should i do? Should I embrace my Dark Side? tell me what u think ;)

Sorry but I'm a little confused.  You're gonna trade him?  Your Dominix for his Maul?  I mean that seems like a sweet deal, getting a converted FX for a stunt, but I mean I personally get attached to even my most basic of sabers.  Why doesn't he just buy his own?  The Dominix isn't all that expensive at all.

I say do it and if you get tired of it sell it for a profit and buy yourself something new from ultra

if you really want to embrace your darkside, do the trade, and before you leave run away with both of them!
jk jk... i dont really know. a dominix isnt all expensive like nero said, but if you like it alot than you should do the trade

Is he a really good friend who you trust completely?
Is it the original dominix or the V2?
If it is the original you probably won't be able to replace it, are you willing to say good-bye to it forever?
If it is the V2 do you have the money to replace it (they are inexpensive, and still available)?

If it was me, I trusted him, the V2, I had the money to replace it, I would make the trade.  I have a converted Darth Maul and it is nice, but the sound does not come compare with an obsidian.  Of course with the dominix I don't think you even have sound unless you added it.

While i dont fully trust anyone anymore, he is by far one of my closest frioends. he built me my first saber usin MHS andSinktube. its the V2 LE so yeah i can replace it. it would just take a little time since io need to make the money to buy a new one. and I have been Eyeballyin that new Aeon LE so maybe

Part of it is cuz he doesnt have an actual job yet (internship) and his favorite sabers are purple, but he likes how my purple came out on mine then on his SI he got awhile back (mine is a deeper violet) Part of it is cuz that Maul before i even had my own saber was the first one i fought with when i was first getting into iot. and with my CG prophecy on the way it just leaves me to wonder

My path is my own. Color does not matter. While red is consider to be aligned with hate, anger, and malevolence, it is also linked to another emotion. one more powerful than all of them. LOVE. I did it and im satisfied. I will end up replacing it though be sure ;)

Well put!  From what you've said it sounds like a great deal, you both got what you wanted.  You proved yourself a Jedi when you decided to make the trade for your friend's sake (even though it worked out well for you lol).  Nothing wrong with a Jedi with a red saber - I wield a red blade and serve the Light side (although I'm known to be Grey).  Be sure to post pics or video of your new weapon!

well you won't see a dark sith lord like me using a blue or purple, only Pyrestone, Dark VA, Blazing red, or black, if they ever can do it. also Fire Orange I would use.

Exar Kun used blue and Revan is shown in KOTOR 2 using one red and one purple saber.

However it should be noted that Exar Kun was a Light Side Jedi Padawan before falling to the Dark Side.  This might account for his using a blue blade.  There are lots of reasons for any side to use any color.  Really the colors aren't indicative of your allegiance.

As for if you should make the trade...  "You must do what you feel is right of course."

Not to split hairs or nothin', but I'm not sure I'd term Kun "Light Side" at any given point. During his training on Dantooine he was combative with his master and made some pretty nasty remarks about the "animals" (aliens) he had to train with. I'd call him at least conflicted, even though he did resist the Dark Side until it was that or death. He and Ulic were of course shown with standard Jedi colors through the course of the Tales of the Jedi comics despite being "Sith," so the color question remains afoot. Good comments.

It sounds to me like you really don't want to trade with him.  However, if you want a Dooku though, it would be less expensive for you to make the trade.  A new dooku will cost you, depending on where, from 130.00-160.00.  Then another 100 plus for US to do the conversion.

Forgive me for my last post, I got to thinking about my Count Dooku at US for an upgrade (heavy grade blade), and you originally said a Darth Maul.  I actually got my Darth Maul from US during the summer sale (with Pyrestone Orange).  It is a little heavier than the average US saber, but noting too hard to handle.

As for the Dooku, that may have been my post you read, I am making it into a walking cane.

Make yourself happy :), do what you want.
