How comfortable is it in the hand? Not that bad really. Although if I where doing a lot of deuling with it I would probly use gloves Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: richmbailey on May 22, 2014, 01:39:29 PM I like it. Gives it a nice industrial look. Point!
Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Karmack on May 22, 2014, 01:59:21 PM Very nice!
Though in my mind's eye, I keep seeing the tubes not as brass, but as lit LED tubes or mini "neon" tubes... Yeah. And if I could do stuff like that I'd be selling these things instead of drooling over the work of those who CAN! Excellent work! If you're in a climate that requires gloves those would make the hilt far more secure. Well done! Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 22, 2014, 03:22:22 PM I didn't notice the industrial look of it till after all the bars where in place.
As for gloves I was thinking of more like biking or riding glives. Just something for a little pading as I live in florida cold weather isn't really an issue. And just a little info on the materials the bars where made from a wire hanger then I just drilled out pilot holes and secured them in place with some epoxi( I love that stuff). This project is far from finished there's still the shroud and acennts to add. More pics as I finish each stage. Again thanks I'm happy y'all like my work Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: richmbailey on May 22, 2014, 03:23:44 PM I didn't notice the industrial look of it till after all the bars where in place. It looks fun, but I'm not sure if I will be able to make it because of work.

Back on topic here, not that I mind the side track conversation. Ok here we go I've got a few peices done well sorta. (http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab316/christophermcleroy82/IMG_20140522_144057_zps7068f841.jpg) (http://s875.photobucket.com/user/christophermcleroy82/media/IMG_20140522_144057_zps7068f841.jpg.html) This is a pvc switch plate I fitted with the av latching switch. Can't wait to see the finished project :)
On the side topic, I won't be going to the Tampa Comic Con... a bit far away and work :( Also missed the PensacolaCon a few months back... David Prowse, Peter Mayhew, and Jeremy Bulloch were there. I missed Darth Vader, Chewie, and Boba Fett! I'll never forgive myself. Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 22, 2014, 08:15:16 PM I have an actave imagination and I like to build stuff.
Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Tal-Rin Onjo on May 22, 2014, 08:23:14 PM And you're also quite good at it.

I honestly salivate a little every time I see the thread for your Azure Wolf come up. I also have a soft spot for Sentinel blades after playing KotOR II.

David Prowse, Peter Mayhew, and Jeremy Bulloch were there. I missed Darth Vader, Chewie, and Boba Fett! I'll never forgive myself. Ah! That would've been awesome to go to. I had just moved here at the time so I couldn't make it either. Relan, I like the design concepts you are incorporating here. I like the shroud with the solid part in the front. Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 23, 2014, 12:34:07 AM Funny story about how I got the shroud idea. It was actually the leftover sink tube peice that I used to make the belt clip for the Azure Wolf. Because it was too small to fit around the dsi I just split the one end and there you have it. A bad @$$ looking split shroud. Repurposing scrap at its finest.
Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 23, 2014, 06:29:12 PM A little more done on The Infiltrator the drilling and tapping of all the holes. Then test fitting of all the parts. So far so good, although I'm gona have to trim down some of the shroud just to even it up a little .(http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab316/christophermcleroy82/IMG_20140523_142009_zps2c234a77.jpg) (http://s875.photobucket.com/user/christophermcleroy82/media/IMG_20140523_142009_zps2c234a77.jpg.html)(http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab316/christophermcleroy82/IMG_20140523_141955_zps5255dc55.jpg) (http://s875.photobucket.com/user/christophermcleroy82/media/IMG_20140523_141955_zps5255dc55.jpg.html)

Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 23, 2014, 07:59:43 PM Well I finished the shroud and I think I'm sattisfided.(http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab316/christophermcleroy82/IMG_20140523_154358_zps779c3b3a.jpg) (http://s875.photobucket.com/user/christophermcleroy82/media/IMG_20140523_154358_zps779c3b3a.jpg.html)
I left it kinda rough cuz I want this thing to look like its been threw hell and back Speaking of witch I found an interesting way to do some uniuqe weathering. Using a brass wire wheel on my dremel instead of taking off the anodizing it added the brass powder to the hilt.(http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab316/christophermcleroy82/IMG_20140523_155144_zpsad4e3b69.jpg) (http://s875.photobucket.com/user/christophermcleroy82/media/IMG_20140523_155144_zpsad4e3b69.jpg.html) And I think I'm gona go with a bronze for my acent pvc peices. Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: sedstiskyfaller on May 23, 2014, 08:04:46 PM Very cool effect! The brassiness really works with the accents you're adding.
Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 23, 2014, 08:36:13 PM Thanks. I'm painting the acent peices now I didn't have bronze so I went with copper. And once I add the brass button head screws they'll stand out a lot better
Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 24, 2014, 12:11:10 AM After 4 coats of base color and wet sanding in between each then another 4 layers aging and weathering the acent peices are ready for the clear coat. Here they are. The pics don't do justice to how they actually look.

Title: Re: infiltrator a dsi custom Post by: Relan Tarel jedi kinght on May 30, 2014, 03:44:30 AM Thanks. I think I'm gona get the dark arbiter or the raven ss pomel for it. That with the brass button head screws, after that I'll call it done.
Let Me tell ya this thing is a beast and for a stunt saber its got some serous heft to it. I might a dark orange led and it'll be my sith saber. Hek the thing just looks mean.
