Title: Summer fun ahead!
Post by: DarthSolidus on June 13, 2014, 10:18:03 PM
I recently got my second grab bag saber (Dominix V2, consular green), just in time for a yearly camping trip with my friends, and I decided its in my best interest to make things a little less dangerous. I know full on that there is going to be many many duels and I cannot wait. $1.50 Pool Noodle from the dollar store makes perfect padding for the blade.  8)

You know I've been wondering, since its the same material, can you use pool fun noodles for string type blades? Like for the optics or whatever. Been curious about that. Because if so, just get a bunch of white ones and old fashioned string blades galore. Lol. Nice Grab Bag get by the way. Love the Dominix in either versions. =] And never really thought to use those for protection of some sort. :P

An interesting idea for safe dueling! :)

Safety is only a concern because I know there will be much drinking happening over the long weekend and since most of my friends aren't as alright with getting whacked with a saber as I am haha I might as well make it a little less painful. If it was just me and a few of the guys i've sparred with many times, there would be no foam, but this way at least we can actually land a few blows without it really hurting at all. I'm really looking forward to it haha

Oh and so far, the only downside is that they look way less awesome with the foam  over the blades. Without them the sabers look elegant, but with it they just look goofy, but I am alright with this.

Very nice!

I use noodles on my bo as well, for free-style sparring.  Works like a charm!

Grats on the grab bag! I love my V2 Dominix, they have a very comfortable grip and feel to them. Great idea on the pool noodles, I may have to invest in some of those myself... as the Emperor of San Fransisco (for you Christopher Moore readers out there) says, "Safety  first." ;)
