Title: My custom curved handle saber
Post by: Vex on June 14, 2014, 12:48:03 AM
Ok so it started out as a high pressure washer. That washer got ran over and as I was trashing it I noticed the handle was a nicely curved aluminum tube. I cut out out the section, wrapped it in soft velcro, then threaded on a piece of clear convoluted tubing, it's really tight. I got some MHS adapters witch completed the handle after one was drilled and fitted with a latching amber AV switch. I used an 18650 Li-Ion battery.  And to round it out an Ultra Sabers PO MLS unit with the masterpiece Manticore emitter. The harness is fully outfitted with quick disconnects. I might install sound later.  I'm really happy  with the results. This is my first curved hilt saber. And now the Pics!!

Very interesting take on a curved hilt! The ingenuity of this is spectacular and definitely worthy of a point. Great job.

Is it completed?  That grip section would look good in black..or maybe in silver or red and black O-rings...

Very cool. Point, indeed.

How does it feel and handle? It looks kind of on the long side but that could just be the pictures.

My hat is off to you for repurposing a broken item into something awesome.

Thanks all. I considered a black handle or even replacing the tubing with a leather wrap, but it looks nice as is and to be honest, the grip feels great. The saber is a bit longer then I had intended, however with a short blade (24"to 30")  it's pretty comfortable. The ribbed section makes for a great grip I'd 2 hands are needed. One handed it feels great.   Plus if I make it shorter there will be no room for sound to be added later. I'll post size comparison pics later.

Nice. Not bad. Hey you could leather wrap the grip still if you think about it, because then the leather grip part would have kind of a ribbed look which would look cool. =] Or look for leather in say tan or something and give it that bone look.

Very nice!  I am sure someday, curved hilts will be more readily available, but for now it is nice to see an example of what is possible.

Out of curiosity, did you have to get the parts custom threaded for the MHS components, or are the silver parts the adapters you mentioned?

They are the adapters.
