Title: anti-vandal momentary switch wiring
Post by: Zminator on September 30, 2014, 12:26:53 AM
Ok, there are some old topics on this, but they don't cover exactly what I am looking for. I know this may seem like a ridiculous question, but which pin is the common ground and which pin in the normally open on the anti-vandal short led buttons?  I found a picture that gives me the led + and -, but not the button + and - and I don't want to fry the button or the board by wiring it up wrong.  The reference I found was here:

http://www.ultrasabers.com/16mm-Anti-Vandal-Short-Momentary-Red-Ring-Switch-P580.aspx (http://www.ultrasabers.com/16mm-Anti-Vandal-Short-Momentary-Red-Ring-Switch-P580.aspx)   - third picture

I also want to know where does the resistor go between the button and the board, on the LED + or - wire?

Thanks in advance for your help

The resistor will go on the + terminal for the switch led.

Thanks Relan, that is what I thought.

Any thoughts on which lead is ground and which is normally open?  I would guess that they would put the NO on the top and the ground on the bottom, but again, don't want the possibility of frying anything

BTW the correct link is supposed to go to ultrasabers, but it changes when i save, so here is the photo i am referencing instead:

For the open and closed terminals it dosent matter because its just sendind a short pulse as the button is pressed

Ahh ok. This would probably explain why their are no wiring diagrams for it because it doesn't matter except for the led, thanks!!
