Title: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: firehand10k on November 07, 2014, 10:52:24 PM Wasn't sure which thread to use but I effectively custom weathered my Azure Reaper today. I was riding to pic up my daughter and realized I hadn't secured my saddle bag when my Reaper jumped out at 70 MPH. I saw in the mirror it spun of the road and didn't get hit by other traffic. I went back and got it and tried to fire it up but it wouldn't activate. I unscrewed the pommel and removed and reinstalled one battery and boom there's the boot sound. I put the pommel back on and fired it up. Seemed fine. I gave a few swings and tapped my hand. Sounds and FoC worked fine. Powered it down, went home, sanded off the sharp spots and dug the gouge out of the charging port. All is well.
I'm about to go to school now so I'll get some pics and post when I get home tonight. Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Molina00 on November 07, 2014, 10:55:57 PM Natural weathering is the best kind. :D
I'm just glad the internals weren't damaged. Just goes to show how much of a beating these things can take. Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: firehand10k on November 07, 2014, 11:01:36 PM Yeah adds character. If anyone else wants to add asphalt gouges I have the technique for application.

Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: hazard502 on November 08, 2014, 03:20:19 PM Yeah that's some genuine weathering right there! I do like the scuff lines that run along the hilt. Glad your reaper still works!
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Darth Chong on November 09, 2014, 01:36:02 PM It looks better than I would have thought. That cover tech wheel looks pretty chewed up though.
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Darth_Phobius47 on November 09, 2014, 04:17:00 PM Covertecs can be replaced. I'm amazed this this is still intact! The speaker didn't pop of either right?
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: firehand10k on November 10, 2014, 05:02:27 AM No, nothing popped off at all. I had to unscrew the pommel and reset one battery to get it to turn on but it works perfectly still. I have already had it plugged in and changed up the colors again too so the Emerald driver is fine.
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Zren Tobas on November 10, 2014, 06:06:04 AM Nice. :P I probably would've flipped out. Lol.
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: sedstiskyfaller on November 10, 2014, 03:12:43 PM The body of the saber does actually look nice. If it were mine, I would definitely be changing out the covert wheel though. Happy to see it survived! :)
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: firehand10k on November 10, 2014, 05:01:25 PM I'll change out the covertech wheel if I ever decide to use it. For now I think it goes good with the body. I'll probably only switch it when using it then put this one back on.
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Molina00 on November 11, 2014, 04:04:39 PM The CT wheel really got eaten up.
That actually does make for some really good weathering. Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Jedi Knight Matatabi on December 18, 2014, 04:28:17 AM AWESOME!! Another Azure Reaper owner. I'll have to show you mine after I'm done editing it. I'll be posting the final product sometime next week. You'll know the thread when you see the title. XD
As for your saber, it looks kinda nice with the scratches. Is that a newer or older model Azure Reaper though? Cause mine doesn't have the grooves on the emitter nor is the hilt just two pieces. Mine is actually three: the bottom half, top half, and a 1" silver piece on top that holds the LED module. The one you have doesn't have that silver piece, its just all one piece. (ps: i rarely check threads I post in so please private message me with your answer. thanks) Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: firehand10k on December 18, 2014, 01:28:03 PM I'll pm as he requested but for anyone else that's curious. I just ordered that reaper in early October. The groove is normally covered by the neck part he mentions. I took the collar off because I didn't like the thickness of it and I like the cleaner look of the saber without it.
Title: Re: Unintentionally weathered /durability test (pics to follow) Post by: Darth Zephyrus on December 18, 2014, 05:35:41 PM This saber looks awesome. You're lucky it hit the road in such a way that you only got aesthetic damage, though ;D. Definitely wouldn't recommend replicating it any time soon with another hilt!
