Title: Nickel Plated Guardian Review - Obsidian Sound Post by: sedstiskyfaller on December 09, 2014, 04:54:52 AM Hello again, saberforum. I wanted to share with you the newest edition to my growing saber collection (up to 10 sabers now!), the Guardian! I have long seen members faun over and express their deepest admiration for this saber, and I can say I am proud to own one. It was also nice to be able to add another nickel plated saber to the collection. I ordered this one with Obsidian Sound in GB with a VA FoC and a Blue AV switch. The Nickel finish is just gorgeous as always, but actually has a matte finish on this saber, whereas on my other sabers it is a glossy/smooth finish. The shroud and pommel spikes are the only pieces nickel plated.

The precision at which the design is executed is brilliant and dynamic. There are many standout features of the design so I thought I would go over them piece-by-piece. First of all, the emitter is the most detailed piece of the saber. Although not MHS compatible, it is a showpiece in and of itself. It is formed from a shroud with cutouts that expose a ribbed black base It not only has three windowed holes to let light through, but also garners three thumb screws (seen below), one of which actually secures the blade. There is a red knob screw, a jeweled gold screw, and a socket set screw (same as the one on my Graflex). (https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7502/15793403210_f854550c6e.jpg) (https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7546/15361080263_bde1187e4c.jpg) (https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7528/15980691035_8c783c9725.jpg) I tend to go for an AV switch with all my sabers, but it seems to fit particularly well on this saber with its low-profile nature and the way it fits in the groove of the shroud. (https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8602/15978711931_c22c4acbe1.jpg) Moving down the saber brings you to the machined grip section. The silver and black contrast adds character and is actually a comfortable gripping point. (https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8667/15954929836_39447604d3.jpg) This saber also comes standard with a black covertec wheel (as most premium sabers do). It is placed right above the pommel, which is another standout piece. It is designed to extend to the width of the shroud before sloping down into a multi-diameter neck section that leads to a set of six square spikes, followed by an almost conical shape at the end with a nice four-holed vent pattern. Canon saber or not, this is one of US finest creations and comes highly recommended. To end I'll share some pics of the saber illuminated and a bonus pic of an ode to the epic clash of Maul and Obi Wan, owning true to the sabers these are inspired by (Manticore CE and Guardian). I will post a video review once I get a chance to do one. How do you like the purple clash with the blue? The pictures look awesome. Point to you for an awesome review. It looks nice. It goes well with the blue blade and I think with the saber as well. I'll show it off when I do a video review. Title: Re: Nickel Plated Guardian Review - Obsidian Sound Post by: jsudderth on December 09, 2014, 01:34:52 PM Awesome saber! Title: Re: Nickel Plated Guardian Review - Obsidian Sound Post by: titan77 on January 02, 2015, 10:22:44 PM This has sealed the deal for me, nickel plated it is! Would love to see the FoC, was thinking about either VA or BH for mine.

Would love to see the FoC, was thinking about either VA or BH for mine. If you're going traditional Guardian Blue on the Guardian, I hear Bane's Heart is an awesome flash option. Forum veteran member Eerockk got that as his FoC in 2013 when he won a Guardian in that year's spring raffle. It looked awesome in his review. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osn7ccAhKgU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osn7ccAhKgU) And I believe Master Bluespike has the GB/BH combo on both his Archons. Title: Re: Nickel Plated Guardian Review - Obsidian Sound Post by: The guy far far away... on January 15, 2015, 08:02:55 PM Great great review of a fantastic saber! For me, my first order was either a Guardian, the Bellicose or a Scorpion. I ended with a Crimson Scorpion! Go figure, lol. Again fantastic review of a fantastic saber! ;)
Title: Re: Nickel Plated Guardian Review - Obsidian Sound Post by: Chuntington2013 on January 25, 2015, 10:07:16 PM It is definitely a fantastic saber, however the large red thumb screw also stabalizes the blade as well as look amazing.
