Title: Heavily Modified Azure Reaper
Post by: Jedi Knight Matatabi on December 28, 2014, 09:47:03 PM
THERE IS NO DARK SIDE, NOR LIGHT SIDE. THERE IS ONLY THE FORCE.

So after eight months I've finally got this thing finished. I took this thing apart so many times trying out new looks for it but I'm finally done.
THIS is the saber I would have if I were a real Jedi.

This emitter took a LOT of work since I didn't have the propper tools. The shroud is handmade by me and is actually the second one I did, the first one didn't turn out right.
The graflex pins had to be filed down a bit because I screwed up on the placement, they were too close together.
The retention knob actually isn't what you guys think it is. The one from "the other guys" was actually too short. The shroud gave the entire emitter piece some extra width so I couldn't use the knob I had. The one in the picture is actually from a lamp parts store online. Its about twice as long as the one I had and is a little heavier, which is good, it feels more real with a little weight to it.

The saber has sound but I installed a recharge port in it myself. It doesn't interfere with the sound that much. I think just by looking at it you know where I got the kill key.

And of course the entire reason why I love this saber so much, the etching. And its blue. I mean, whats better than a blue lightsaber?

All lit up. Arctic Blue with White FoC and a white AV switch. This is gonna be my new facebook profile header.

Light side points please!!  ;D

THERE IS NO DARK SIDE, NOR LIGHT SIDE. THERE IS ONLY THE FORCE.

Nice. Saw it on FB just before I looked back in here. Very nice to see the detailed pics here. Looks like it came out very good, right tools or not.

Usually don't like the 'colored' hilts, but your saber is looking very sleek. Props.

For the sake of argument..... if someone came to you with the crimson reaper and asked you for a commission to make their red saber the same as your blue one with the gold trim, the shroud, the emitter, the pommel and the time/labor.....what would you charge for such a commission...???

First time anyone has asked me that.I don't feel comfortable making the shroud for other people because mine isn't exactly perfect, I can't drill a completely straight/parallel retention screw hole. This saber might look likes its perfect, but in person there are a lot of flaws. I also don't know what you mean by "gold trim". The only gold on my saber is the retention screw and the graflex pins.
But the cost of the parts is what's gonna get you for overall price.
However what I can do is give you a list of parts you can buy for it and you could try and find someone else to make you a shroud. I'll pm you with details.

I absolutely love that! It's sleek, but at the same time it looks like it's built for business. The point's on me :D

Nice Job,
I like it quite a lot.
I am working on one for myself, actually I am drafting 3 projects at the moment.
The first is going to be mostly Ultrasabers stock, but the other two are different takes on a saber staff.
I am going to use US parts, but have to order the blades from a poly company myself due to the size I need for the customization.
Again,
Nice Job !

Where did you get the blade plug effect?

I made it myself using shroud material from "the other guys".

Where did you get the blade plug effect?
Its a blade plug from that one forge that sells sabers (how suttle can I get?)

Very nice! US hilts are beautiful in their
own right, but this mod is over the top!
Well done.

I don't think I said this before, but I absolutely love this modification.  I was never all that into this hilt until now, but this variant seems awesome for show as well as use.  Nice work!

This is a great customization, probably the best use of that reaper body I've seen.
