Title: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Noctis on March 14, 2015, 08:09:25 PM I finally got my new phone, so . . . It's BELLICOSE TIME, baby! Revel in the grandiose idiocy of my super-duper awesome speaking skills!

Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Sypho Ruut on March 14, 2015, 08:44:38 PM You ma'am have just decided for me which saber will be my next. I'm thinking sentinel yellow, and a pointed tip for that clone wars look.
I agree with you on the weight issue incidentally, it's very much what you're used to that counts, i train with steel weapons with rebated edges, a three pound sword feels considerably heavier in the hand than any US i've come across, and a three pound viking sword feels heavier even than that. To be honest, the matter of mass in the hilt can actually be a problem, i find i don't get the best out of my saber unless i've deliberately not used my steel weapons for a while, i have to get used to really pushing the hilt downwards sometimes, and that's really not an issue with real steel, quite the opposite. POINTS CAP'N, ON THE HORIZON! Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Noctis on March 14, 2015, 08:49:53 PM You ma'am have just decided for me which saber will be my next. POINTS CAP'N, ON THE HORIZON! Thanks kindly! :D My bokken has an extra long handle, so the Bellicose is extremely comparable. I also have a Sentinel V4 and when I'm swinging it around 1-handed, I swear it's going to fly right out of my grip because it's so freakin' light! I really like the weight of the Bellicose. Good review, and that is a good lookin saber you got there! The Bellicose looks like a classic type saber, very nice. I find it to be very classic as well! That's another reason why I got it. :) Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Sypho Ruut on March 14, 2015, 08:54:58 PM I have to admit i was concerned about the covertec, but seeing you actually hold it i realise it'll be clear of my left hand by a decent margin.
I was considering modifying the hilt a little too, mainly just the colour scheme, i was thinking of filling in the black lines in gold, and then the grooves in the grip section with silver. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Zren Tobas on March 14, 2015, 09:10:50 PM Very nice Bellicose =] I want to send in mine for an Emerald upgrade so badly. Still have main color Guardian Blue but pulse to Arctic Blue then flash yellow =] But for now when I can I'll just be getting me a new Ultra Edge Heavy Grade for mine. I have the Episode 6 font on right now. I switched the button color to gold and short grooves pommel for mine when I got it and silver blade holder as well. Right now its just got an older Heavy Grade blade with tons of dents from switching blades with another older saber I used to have so the dents are showing some
Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Qui-Lar on March 14, 2015, 09:21:57 PM Good review, light side point to you!
The Bellicose is definitely in my top five favs. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Drahcir on March 14, 2015, 10:10:55 PM I was beginning to wonder if the resident spokeswoman for the Bellicose would make a review.
It sounds like it's as I expected, an excellent saber and a "serious piece of equipment". It's always nice to see someone actually hold a saber when you're wondering about it. Great review Nox. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Noctis on March 15, 2015, 12:29:31 AM I was beginning to wonder if the resident spokeswoman for the Bellicose would make a review. It sounds like it's as I expected, an excellent saber and a "serious piece of equipment". It's always nice to see someone actually hold a saber when you're wondering about it. Great review Nox. You bet! I broke my phone some time ago and just got my replacement, so I didn't have a way to record my nonsense until now. I definitely wanted to show you all how I handle such a large saber. ;) Good review, light side point to you! The Bellicose is definitely in my top five favs. It's a fabulous saber. I've got my eye on the Guardian right now, so after I purchase the Dominix, I might go for that one! Very nice Bellicose =] I want to send in mine for an Emerald upgrade so badly. Still have main color Guardian Blue but pulse to Arctic Blue then flash yellow =] But for now when I can I'll just be getting me a new Ultra Edge Heavy Grade for mine. Or, you know, just have two. ;) I have to admit i was concerned about the covertec, but seeing you actually hold it i realise it'll be clear of my left hand by a decent margin. I was considering modifying the hilt a little too, mainly just the colour scheme, i was thinking of filling in the black lines in gold, and then the grooves in the grip section with silver. The covertec doesn't get in my way at all. In fact, I think it's a nice "finger rest" for certain grips. It lets me know I'm putting my hands in the right places! Your mod ideas sound pretty sweet, too. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Genkaku Sho`shyk on March 15, 2015, 12:33:13 AM SNOOOGENZ!!!!!!

It lets me know I'm putting my hands in the right places! Your mod ideas sound pretty sweet, too. Sounds like you use it the same way i do the disc pommel on my hand&half sword, it's not a terribly comfortable thing to grip, but it's useful for a sort of "trigger grip" and pivot point. With a traditional blade it helps with edge alignment too, although that makes zero difference with a lightsaber of course! Why thank you, i shall definitely have to learn a little photoshop-fu and see if i can mash up a preview! Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Noctis on March 15, 2015, 12:54:09 AM SNOOOGENZ!!!!!! .....do what, now? Sounds like you use it the same way i do the disc pommel on my hand&half sword, it's not a terribly comfortable thing to grip, but it's useful for a sort of "trigger grip" and pivot point. With a traditional blade it helps with edge alignment too, although that makes zero difference with a lightsaber of course! Why thank you, i shall definitely have to learn a little photoshop-fu and see if i can mash up a preview! The only time it annoys me is if I'm switching from hand to hand and it tags my thumb. :P But that usually means I was doing something wrong, so . . . :D Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Qui-Lar on March 15, 2015, 12:58:29 AM You'll love the Guardian, just keep in mind that it's
not that conducive for spinning/weilding. The hilt is bulky and busy. With that said, it looks totally awesome as a canon saber. By all means order the sucker, just thought you should know. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Ultoria Kade on March 15, 2015, 01:08:55 AM Finally, I was expecting the representative of The Bellicose to do a review! I am also very glad to know that I'm not the only one considered the "the crazy lady down the street with a lightsaber". And props to you for the awesome color, SRD is fantastic! (or any variation of its lovely tealness). Hope your ceiling fan stays in shape, point awarded.

I do just love this saber. And I mean, I was "the crazy down the street" already, but now, I have a LIGHTSABER! Ha ha! You'll love the Guardian, just keep in mind that it's not that conducive for spinning/weilding. The hilt is bulky and busy. With that said, it looks totally awesome as a canon saber. By all means order the sucker, just thought you should know. Oh, I just want that one because of Obi-Wan. Like you said, very canon! I do want to have a few that are just for looks. I probably won't get sound with it. I just really love the hilt! Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Master Venturous on March 15, 2015, 02:37:45 AM Wow...I'm very late to this game. So, a few things.
1. You remind me a TON of Lucy Lawless. 2. The Bellicose is basically the greatsword of the Ultrasabers world, judging from the length of it in the video. 3. I was hoping you'd hit the fan. :( 4. Nice review. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Noctis on March 15, 2015, 03:17:46 AM Wow...I'm very late to this game. So, a few things. 1. You remind me a TON of Lucy Lawless. 2. Great to see u in action with that "serious piece of equipment", you really are dork :D (takes one to know one, haha).... Points to you :) Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Master Venturous on March 15, 2015, 03:49:44 AM Haha...... Crazy fun review my friend...... She could do plenty of damage with just that serious piece of equipment. Also, if you watch Lucy Lawless in some of her Xena bloopers, she is really similar to Nox in personality. Just throwing that out there. ;) Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Genkaku Sho`shyk on March 15, 2015, 04:14:22 AM ok, thats it.. you have all inspired me to create .. wait for it... light-ring sabers..... thats right.. Xena's famous ring weapon.... but in a lightsaber fashion.. cant say it will be soon, but i already have the cogs turning in this crazy swamp hermits head... its gonna happen down the road for sure..
here are some other ideas of "dagger like" lightsabers i have been thinking of making.... from a game on the dreamcast called, Phantasy star online (http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj544/simpledan429/ultra%20saber%20pics%20and%20videos/main-qimg-412befb1fb54b53864c48b40c789ea85_zpsm0wgte02.jpg) (http://s1267.photobucket.com/user/simpledan429/media/ultra%20saber%20pics%20and%20videos/main-qimg-412befb1fb54b53864c48b40c789ea85_zpsm0wgte02.jpg.html) (http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj544/simpledan429/ultra%20saber%20pics%20and%20videos/img-thing_zpsrbjb69jz.jpg) (http://s1267.photobucket.com/user/simpledan429/media/ultra%20saber%20pics%20and%20videos/img-thing_zpsrbjb69jz.jpg.html) Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Master Venturous on March 15, 2015, 04:18:18 AM ok, thats it.. you have all inspired me to create .. wait for it... light-ring sabers..... thats right.. You'd have to make it to where you could hold it in the center, kind of the way the Inquisitor's lightsaber is in Rebels. You'd also have to be pretty damn precise when catching it or it would be the last time you caught anything. Usually, they end up at 0.04, 0.04 or 0.02, 0.02, but mixing and matching works pretty well. usually if the brighter setting is longer, it looks compressed, if it's shorter, you get the unstable look, as if there are surges of higher power Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Darth Logos on April 01, 2015, 02:53:32 PM Oh, jsut a quickie, if you want an unstable look, i'd actually recommend your emerald flicker settings not be even. That would be cool. Title: Re: Nox's Bellicose Review Post by: Sypho Ruut on April 01, 2015, 04:54:31 PM The closest you'd likely be able to get without messing with the blades would be using two flickers at once, but you'd need multiple cards and a custom LED. More trouble than it's worth really.
What i'd do with this is (let's say we're making a red blade primarily) use an RGBR led unit, and have the two R dies controlled by separate cards, along with the G and B. you could give these R dies their own flicker, like we already do with the emerald, but you could give each red die a flicker out of phase with the other. That way you'd get dim and light moments in your sequence, as well an apparently non-uniform flicker in the background. A much simpler and cheaper way would be to use it jsut for videos, and simply put it on in post-effects. The Ultra-film wasn't glued down on my first blade. And like the inquisitive idiot I am, I put my finger in it. This messed up the Ultra-film, naturally, but once I got it straightened out, I found that it had left wrinkles in the film. These wrinkles produce the effect that I'm speaking of, but only at the bottom of the blade that my finger was able to reach. I quit before I got the degree (went back later and got 2 completely different degrees). But yes, I can play the piano. I wouldn't call myself "good" by any stretch of the imagination, but all music majors were required to learn every instrument.
