Title: US dark initiate review
Post by: Darth Milakos on March 27, 2015, 07:24:52 PM
How's it goin guys it's Darth Milakos here with a review of my new dark initiate saber with V4 obsidian sound.
Firstly I'd like to start off saying this saber has to be the most beautiful saber I own. The red AV switch compliments the blazing red blade with silver FoC. Thank you Emory for your suggestions. I also got the VP1 charger and a blade plug.
Secondly Emory did me a huge favor. I had accidentally put in the wrong saberforum name when requesting V4 sound! Thankfully I emailed Emory and he changed it MID PROCESSING!! I can't wait to spread the word of these actions and the word of this saber.
Thanks again Emory and the entire Ultrasabers team!

Cool! I'm going to be getting the same one only sliver le with green form the blade and switch (V4 sound too). Is it hard to find good choke points for holding two-handed and do you recommend a 32 or 36 in (I'm 5'7 and growing) Thanks.

Fantastic. You won't be disappointed. No as long as you don't mind one hand closer to the emitter and one next to the covertech (if you get one) I recommend the 32 for someone of your size but being that you are still growing you may want to go 36 I'm 6' 5" and I use a 36 if that helps at all

I've noticed that with a 36" blade, I feel the weight of the blade more than the hilt itself.  I swapped the Bellicose pommel onto it and that seemed to help rebalance it.  If you're going with the standard pommel perhaps the 32" blade would be better to start with.  I don't have a 32" inch blade so I can't really offer a comparison between the two sizes on the Initiate.

I only have 36s because of my size but you have a point I didn't think about that

Packer,
you will have no issues using it with one or two hands; I am 5 foot and 8 inches at 155 lbs. with medium sized hands.  I used my son's US Dark Initiate v4  tonight with a 36 inch blade.  Depending where you place your hands, you will come into contact with the cover tec wheel, but this is not a show stopper as the hilt is symmetrical in design.

Your point of balance is about 5 inches up the blade from the emitter with a Heavy Duty Ultra Edge Blade in it.  In other words it a little blade heavy in feel, but add on a pommel and that brings the balance of the saber back in your hand.  That all said, you can still duel one or two handed with it easily enough.

I certainly think a 32 inch blade is worth trying and I have contemplated purchasing one, or sizing down one of my 36 inch blades.

Nice. I like the simpler sabers. I have a Dominix V4 LE in Guardian Blue saber and its probably one of my favorite new sabers =] Well, new for the year anyway
