Title: Leather Hilt Wrap
Post by: Badboi1 on April 08, 2015, 07:02:53 PM
So I have been working on my hilt. Here are some progress pics.

So I decided to put a leather wrap. I first went into my leather bin and grabbed some lamb skin it was brown but it will do for now. I stitched it into a tube and slid it over my Aeon be sure to have the tube of leather longer than the area needing to be covered as it will shrink. I added O rings in the grooves for a nice grip.

I then melted so beeswax in a small tin. A lot goes along way.

Then I apply a coat of beeswax on to the leather

Then hit it with a heat gun and it will shrink the leather.

Once the leather is nice and tight. Run your fingers over it (it will be hot) and with a tool or your nails outline the detail such as the O ring

Once your done trim the extra off.

I guess this was a tutorial as well on a different style of leather wrapping. More to come...

Special thanks to swords4two. I tried this method out and think it came out very well.  (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/rogue961/IMG_2028.jpg)

You're right, it did come out quite well.  You still have the black and silver of the original Manticore but with that little touch of class offered by leather.  Very nice job!  Do you want light or dark side points?

Btw, welcome to the forum.  :)

Dark side point awarded.

Do you have plans for your next saber(s)?

I'm leaning toward the Scorpion but the Mantis (Dark or CE)  looks soo sexy.

Question, can this be done with the electronics still in hilt?
(My assumption is most likely but still would rather ask)
