Title: Light Saber Torture Test
Post by: Darth Tony on July 02, 2015, 09:28:16 PM
Not sure if this counts as a review.  A bunch of us got some ultra sabers fitted with heavy blades and sparred with one another.  We intentionally hit as hard as we do when we fight with bamboo swords.  The light sabers proved suitable for full contact sparring.  Here's the video of the sparring and the "damage" incurred.

Hi.  Thanks for sharing this sparring video.  Unfortunately probably not usable for a saber review.  What did you strike against to get that emitter rim damage ?  Perhaps this is under warranty coverage if caused through normal heavy dueling.  Nice to see that the HG blades held up to those powerful hits.  Here's a well deserved dark side point.  :)

Dauntless Seven, thanks for the feedback.  The emitter was smashed against the pommel of another saber during a match.  While this sort of thing happens in Kendo all the time, I doubt that it is part of normal saber dueling.  We bought these sabers to be abused.  One thing that I didn't mention is that the electronics and sound cards have also held up to the heavy hits.

Not really a saber review, which are typically about the hilts and/or go into detail about the weight/feel/looks/etc of everything, but a nice demonstration of how durable the heavy blades are nonetheless.
I haven't seen many videos of Ultrasabers being used in actual, full-contact sparring like this, which is a pity.

Would you prefer Light points or Dark points? :)

Definitely a good testament to how durable these things are.

Awesome Video, make more!!!!

Nice to hear the blades are holding up for you as well.
We have found the heavy blades, while arguably SLIGHTLY
dimmer (hard to tell in some cases), really do hold up extremely
well, just check your retention screws are tight after fights and
all seems to do well.

We have found the electronics to hold up extremely well also,
if you hear a slight rattle in our electronics a small piece of foam
or some tape will keep things from moving and make it much
safer for the electronics.

Well done

Keep up the good work!

Cheers
