Good looking hilts, did you do the etching yourself or have it done?

Wow, that's so cool! Point :). I've been wanting to do this exact type of thing but never thought of laser etching, was just going to try and stencil/ airbrush.  The etching would be so superior to paint, both in terms of looks and durability, did you do that yourself or have done?  I'd love to know for down the road when get to fine tuning some things I'm currently working on.

I have a laser etcher at work and every now and then I'll bring my sabers in and customize them

Thanks kaanapuchris :)  I'll have to do some searching and find a place in my area that's got one n maybe can work something out.  Sorry to bother you but would you mind if I ask what type of places I should be looking for- i.e. Paint/ auto shop, custom signage place, print shop, etc.?

For paint I don't know. I've never painted a saber before aside from the red button on oblivion. For that I used a latex based paint to give a slight shine. Would you be looking for something durable?

Hey kaanapuchris, sorry I wasn't very clear about my question-  I was wondering what kinds of places I should look for to find somewhere with equipment to laser etch, like at your work?  If I could find a place that has I might be able to work something out with them and get some etching done on my sabers- but I wouldn't even know who/ what type of place would have laser etching equipment?  that sith looks SPECTACULAR!  I definitely have to get some etching done on mine now!

I know some jewelry shops may do it. I work in the military and my work center has one for tool labeling

@kaanapuchris - any advice you can give to a noob to laser etching.  I've got an Initiate Saber that I'd like to use.

It really depends on the machine. I do mine at work.

Thanks for the idea.
I took my Sentinel LE and Dominix over to a friend of mine whose family owns the trophy shop in my town.  She does the laser engraving there, and said it wouldn't be a problem.  Now all I have to do is gather some jpeg of designs I want.
I'll post pics when I get it done.  So far I'm thinking Jedi logo on the pommel of the stunt Sentinel LE.

You RUINED a perfeftly good Prophecy! ::) Just kidding though when I get my first saber i'll probably get that done at some point in a discreet are on the saber. My first saber will be a prophecy with obs LITE called "The Vanquisher". My first stunt will be called "The Silencer"

I'm not sure what the machines are like with Kaanapuchris, but my friend at the trophy shop said her machine would show up the best on the black handled sabers.  Hence, the lack of customization on my other sabers.
I admire your Consular Kaanapuchri, is there anything special you did to prepare the surface to have it show up so well?

Thank you sir.  I'd like to thank this thread for giving me the idea to customize my stunts. :)

The more I look at the picture of your etched hilts, the more I like them.  I'd be interested in a thread or post on how you did them.
The way I get mine done isn't very interesting.  I put a post-it with a arrow pointing toward the side the activation switch is on to denote up on the black stunt saber cap.   Find a black and white design on Google and text to my friend.  And after the weekend she calls me and I go pick it up, heheh.

So Ultrasabers sent me a Dominix LE v4 for my 4th place spring 2016 raffle prize.

Its nice, but i had to make it my own.  So I found a design and texted to my friend after I dropped off the stunt pommel.

And she did something a little fancy, and reversed the design, and brought it right up to the edge of the pommel.  I think it looks nice.

Love the pommels kencyrath!  Looks incredible.  Whoever's getting those is gonna be SO pumped :).  I still plan on finding somewhere to get laser etching done as well. 

Haha, logos i just spotted those etched Sabers for the first time right now!  That was back in march- I totally missed those!  So wicked.  Wow, I REALLY need to make this happen!
