Title: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: MavRick on November 11, 2015, 12:02:02 AM My Aeon , simple mod;(http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt225/shreddistprime/Mobile%20Uploads/GEDC0342_zpsjneluedh.jpg) (http://s614.photobucket.com/user/shreddistprime/media/Mobile%20Uploads/GEDC0342_zpsjneluedh.jpg.html) I drilled holes and added blue thumb screws for better blade retention.

Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: RevanReborn on November 11, 2015, 04:31:19 AM That looks awesome MavRick! Very nicely done- it's not so easy to drill such clean looking windows in a metal cylinder. Point for you :). Knurled screws really tie it all together well too.
Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: James Casey on November 11, 2015, 12:29:45 PM Looks cool, MavRick, nicely done!
What size are the thumbscrews you used in place of the retention screws, please? Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: Dauntless Seven on November 11, 2015, 05:50:05 PM Nice clean emitter windows. May have to borrow your idea for another Aeon project. I too would like some info regarding the knurled screw size and where to purchase them. +1 point. :)
Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: MavRick on November 12, 2015, 09:48:28 PM Thanks to all. James , the thumb screws are 8/32 by 3/8 long. I just drilled and tapped a second hole. I have a drill guide for round stock, made to be used to drill straight holes in round tubeing and it works great! I bought the screws from TCSS, I have seen US mention them so i guess its ok to say. I believe they are the ones used on the Menace saber.
Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: Dauntless Seven on November 12, 2015, 11:07:39 PM Hi again. Would you post a photo of that drill guide for round stock and of the drill used. Would it fit a cordless Dremel. Thanks.
Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: TelepathicTraffic on November 13, 2015, 01:18:06 PM I like it. Gotta get me some of those thumb wheel screws ...
Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: MavRick on November 17, 2015, 10:08:14 PM D-7 i will try to get a pic up soon, in the mean time this is what it is called and the company that makes it. V-drill guide (standard sizes) 1/8 to 3/8. It has 17 hole sizes. Made by Big Gator Tools. You clamp it to whatever you want to drill the holes in. Its for wood working but it works great!

Hi again. Would you post a photo of that drill guide for round stock and of the drill used. Would it fit a cordless Dremel. Thanks. I was at my local ManLowe Depot last weekend and saw they have a contraption that turns most dremels into mini drill presses. I don't know what they called it. It was just under $50. It's on my Christmas list. So if I'm the first to get one I'll be sure to review it. I'm not sure if it will work for switch holes as they are kind of bigger but I think it will work out fine for things like Covertechs, Buttons/Screws, Blade retention holes, Emitter windows and Ports. You may want to look into that as well. I missed your reply. This looks very handy. Have a v3 saber coming soon that I am wanting to place some emitter holes in. Will check out Home Depot for a start. +1. :D
Title: Re: My Aeon V3/ slight mod Post by: Hansrad on December 16, 2015, 03:32:45 AM Great saber Mavrick! I'm definitely going to look for one of those drill guides. Drilling holes on a curve is such a challenge. Windows are always a good addition to a saber.
