Title: Point Fixing for Jedi Tabards Post by: InquisitionCapa on December 14, 2015, 09:41:39 AM Hi Guys,
Ive recently finished my complete costume (Obi-wan style). However, when wearing it for any extended period or for dueling, the tabard itself always slips off my shoulders. Has anyone got any ideas of how to fix it to my shoulders of my outer tunic? I was thinking velcro but the seams of where Id have to stitch it would be visible. Thanks! Buttons will be the most solid, and you could stitch them in fairly seamlessly alone your shoulder seams and no one will be the wiser. Agreed Buttons long term best way to go IMO, will be invisible, i went the velcro route at first because it was fast and easy, but over time, use etc loses grip, and even when new, with out washing if you go into active mode it moves Title: Re: Point Fixing for Jedi Tabards Post by: InquisitionCapa on December 16, 2015, 11:21:26 AM Thanks guys! I tried both velcro on my older tunic and buttons on my newer one. Both have their merits but buttons seem to be the most long lasting. Especially as I live with two agents of the dark side (cats). ;D

Title: Re: Point Fixing for Jedi Tabards Post by: B1ondeange1 on December 17, 2015, 12:04:33 AM just as a note- i used just about every combo imaginable on my new tunic :P its a three layer construction, with two flaps to create a fake under tunic around the neck line- that closes with velcro. A press stud, hook and loop and couple of buttons hold the tunic itself closed nicely. The RL standards state theres an outer tunic (SWTOR generic jedi), but to me I think thats incorrect- it looks more like a type of tabard. That layer is attached at the shoulders and top of back with velcro, then it is buttoned to the bottom edge of my tunic to hold it all in place. my obi has a piece of velcro to hold it on the back of my tunic, then I used that elastic you can get with the button holes already in to do up the sash- this allows it to move, and allows for a decent amount of adjustment. I will also be putting either velcro or something at another two points to hold the obi in place.
The SWTOR standards are a bit different from prequel jedi outfits- for starters the tunic doesnt come below your belt height, so it has a habit of wanting to ride up and needs some convincing to keep it in place. sadly I STILL havent come up with a satisfactory solution to keep my striped robe in place other than a few safety pins. maybe one day ill find a solution. |
