Title: Custom Blade Plug Post by: DirtyJersey on September 15, 2011, 01:42:12 AM This is a blade plug that I made after reading a thread by SuperSword on "Uses For Old Blades": http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=2729.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=2729.0) I started a new topic because I didn't want to crowd his topic with all my pictures.
This idea came from a post by Big Boss on the best use for an old saber blade the best alternative for old blades that i have found is making them into blade plugs like this http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/Evil-Henchman/ARKM%20Saber%20Hilts/ARKM%20Razor%20-%20Blade%20Plugs/ARKMRazorBladePlug.jpg (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/Evil-Henchman/ARKM%20Saber%20Hilts/ARKM%20Razor%20-%20Blade%20Plugs/ARKMRazorBladePlug.jpg) I took this advice and made my own blade plug today from an old electric razor I had. I used the plug on my GB Apparition(http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=2487.15 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=2487.15)). Here are my pictures Took the vented cover from my razor (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/Greywulf2112/SaberForum/Blade%20Plug/DSC00207.jpg) Used hot glue to set it into the end of my cut-down blade (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/Greywulf2112/SaberForum/Blade%20Plug/DSC00208.jpg) Length Wise shot of the plug (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/Greywulf2112/SaberForum/Blade%20Plug/DSC00209.jpg) Side View of the plug (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/Greywulf2112/SaberForum/Blade%20Plug/DSC00210.jpg) Blade plug "Ignited" is Extremely Bright!! I like it a lot more than the wooden dowel plug I was using before. If you liked this post or found it useful to you in some way, Lightside Points would definitely be appreciated. Cheers and MTFBWY DJ Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: ThreadJack on September 15, 2011, 01:44:56 AM That's really cool. Luckily my razor needs new blades.... ;D

Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Master Nero Attoru on September 15, 2011, 03:07:07 AM Oh holy crap that is cool Jersey! It looks awesome, with the blue light bleeding out of the bottom of your saber... it's like the sheer power of it can't be contained by the hilt ;)
Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Big Boss on September 15, 2011, 03:18:09 AM nice to see people put my suggestion to use but i think you put too much glue it looks a bit messy, but since its just glue gun glue its easy to peel off and try again :) and those of you wanting to try to make some as well here's the place to buy the razor part http://www.electricshaverstore.com/item.asp?n=279901&k=279901&sc=FRGL (http://www.electricshaverstore.com/item.asp?n=279901&k=279901&sc=FRGL) its the cheapest place i have found to buy them,

At least I have a couple more razor parts to experiment on. Also, like you said, the glue does peel off. Thanks for adding the link to the razor parts, I forgot that. Thank you everyone else who commented so far. I'm always happy to share what I can with all of you. BTW, this also opens up the opportunity to use Lee Filters to have almost ANY color you want come out of the pommel. Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Darth Wraith on September 16, 2011, 08:07:42 AM Very Inventive!!! ;)
I may have to try this ;) Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Ailric of KOTOR on September 16, 2011, 12:55:09 PM Great idea & post DJ. It also gives ideas for an instant crystal pommel. ;)
Sweet lookin saber and color also. Thanks again for pics & idea. :) Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Nyte on October 16, 2011, 12:39:44 PM I'm gonna try this, but it's completely ridiculously hard to find a hardware store with 1" PVC pipes here in Sweden. Not to mention polycarbonate. Frickin' impossible.
And I definitely don't wanna cut off a part of one of my blades.. Gonna check all the stores around here and see what I find.. Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Abate on October 19, 2011, 12:13:31 AM so I sacrificed part of a blade and an R2 D2 but heres what i came up with for my blade plug

Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: DirtyJersey on October 19, 2011, 04:36:47 PM That is pure genius Abate. I love the R2 idea. Point for you.
Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Big Boss on October 19, 2011, 05:08:02 PM @Abate LOL leave it to a sith to chop up an R2 and turn him into a blade plug. gave you a dark point for the evil and clever idea ;D
Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Maslac on October 28, 2011, 09:38:11 AM Hehe that R2 looks like he just fixed something inside the hilt hehe :)
Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: Cogura on February 25, 2013, 08:14:57 AM Here what I did with the blade plug for my Crimson Reaper...
I punched out the aluminum disk from a standard plug, glued on a rounded blade tip, I found a polished quartz crystal that fits exactly inside the plug, glued that in place to the inside of the tip, used a round bit of optically clear book tape to cover the other end. The quartz shows through the vents of the emitter just perfectly and when it lights up, awesomeness. I've never posted pics before so i'm not sure how well this will work... Would have never thought about using a razer tip.
Title: Re: Custom Blade Plug Post by: borgishmorg on May 05, 2013, 05:59:08 PM Relatively new to the Ultrasaber-ownership scene, so this might be a newb question but,
If I cut a piece off of my blade to make a blade plug, can I still use that blade, just being a bit shorter? Or is it ruined by this? |
