Title: My Doctor Who Lightsaber
Post by: DirtyJersey on September 17, 2011, 02:26:21 PM
This is the Lightsaber that Doctor Who would use if Doctor Who used a Lightsaber. Unlike any saber you have ever seen, this Sonic Saber is NOT a weapon, but it will open any locked door or fix any damaged electronics you may encounter.

Here are the specs of this Sonic Saber

This saber is named "Sexy" after Doctor Who's Tardis. The name is revealed in Season 6 Episode 4 The Doctor's Wife. This saber is black and white and is suitable for use at formal affairs.

Hilt and emitter are PVC
Emitter shrouds 1 1/4 inches of blade before it goes into the hilt
Hilt is wrapped in electrical tape
2 hex screws hold blade and emitter in place
Hex screws are 6-32 and 8-32

The overall length of the saber is 23 1/8 inches
Blade is Mid Grade
Blade color is Sonic Blue
Blade length overall is 18 1/2 inches
Blade from emitter to tip is 15 inches

Blade is powered by the Sonic Screwdriver of the 10th Doctor who was played by David Tennant
Sonic Screwdriver overall length is 5 1/8 inches
Sonic Screwdriver must be ignited before inserting it into the saber

As always, thanks for viewing my post. If you liked it or found it the least bit interesting, Lightside points are appreciated.

Even as someone who isn't a Dr.Who fan, I must say that this is very cool! Lightside points granted.

Is that saber as tiny as it appears!?  That's really neat!

Thanks guys, this was an early morning inspiration that hit me today. I just knew it was going to be something worth sharing.

It's definitely tiny. The entire saber is 7/8 inch shorter than a standard Initiate blade by itself. Lots more fun than you would think. I can spin this thing around all over the house without knocking anything over. I love it.  ;D

@Big Boss, thanks for fixing the topic title for me. I appreciate that.

My friend just came up with an interesting point about this Sonic Saber. If Jedi carried this around, they would have an easier time getting through those locked doors instead of having to cut through them.

i don't know about you  but if my saber could cut through doors, I'd cut ALL the doors i go through open.

Not to say I wouldn't cut through doors(because who wouldn't), but if you are chasing your enemy, this would save time in catching up with them if they lock the portal doors behind them as they run away.

yeah good point.

back to the door cutting thing...it made me think of those infomercials for kitchen knives that they show cutting through ridiculous stuff like tin cans and such.  :D
