Title: Krayts Maw 2.0
Post by: mchalk13 on November 07, 2016, 11:48:46 PM
Hey all I know I posted this before but I'm posting again as I feel that has changed significantly. I started off with a bare metal prophecy sanded it and then did the lightning etching well as the Blaster damage. After that I sprayed Ivory paint primer combination and then use different flesh-colored and bone colored paints to achieve the results you see below. Following that I added the leather wrap that you see in the lower choke point and then custom trimmed leather for the upper choke point to make it look as if it had been damaged in battle. I hope you all can agree but this version looks much better than my first
With out further ado I present to y'all the Krayts Maw, a saber created from the tooth of a Krayt Dragon.

Wow... I thought you were being overcritical of yourself when you talked of starting over because you werent happy with it...
While similar in appearance, this one is a world away from the first. Awesome work!

It literally looks like it came from a bone or tooth. You did a really beautiful job with this.  Congratulations.

That's really awesome.  It truly does look like it's carved from bone.  Great work.  ;D

You got the bone color down pretty well - nice touch.

One interesting thing to note about the Maw is that not only does it look like a bone or tooth but for what ever reason it also feel like it. The way the paint dried I guess would be the only reason for that but my fiancé picked it up and the first thing she said was "omg it feels like bone". I will be adding a small leather strap to the pommel and running some beads on to it here in the near future.

That looks fantastic! Haven't quite been brave enough yet to really damagify one of my sabers. Maybe one day.

Excellent work! Point to you. I liked the other one, but this is spot on! There seems to be something about the way the damaged areas look that has the appearance of being cracked bone. Truly amazing!

I like what you have done with this saber. Good job with the coloring and weathering. Dark side point for you.
