Title: Challenge to join the Prismatic Order
Post by: Obese Wan Kenobese on November 11, 2016, 01:18:06 AM
Most kyber crystals have a single focal point to align when used. Some lightsabers use more than one kyber crystal. I have peered deep into the Force and found a way to align multiple focal points in such close proximity to perform as one beam. With this, I am starting the Prismatic Order of Polychromatic Blades

I've been working on the idea of a polychromatic blade for a while now. I have only come up with one idea I can make work, so I'm throwing down the gauntlet to challenge others to beat my idea (so I can steal the idea if it's better  ;) ). My video camera didn't do a great job, so I'll have to figure something else out to display it. I just couldn't wait to start this anymore.

I used cellophane, cut in strips, to run the length of the blade. It twisted a bit when installed, so it's swirled slightly. But it gives me purple, green and blue in one blade the whole length. Which is visible varies as I spin the saber and change the angle. When I have money for supplies, I'll try some other things.

The challenge has been made. Rise up if you have the Jedicular Forcitude.

There is often more than one path to a destination.
Join the Prismatic Order of Polychromatic Blades.

thats really cool. Was that just a blade modification, or did you have to change up the LEDs too?

It's a tri cree adegan silver. Cellophane colors act like color discs or Lee filters, but it just filters the edge where I put it in the blade, so I can make one side purple next to blue next to green. If someone wanted to make blue next to green with a cyan mixed LED, that should also work.

I was actually talking to a friend about as if colored cellophane on an Adegan Silver would work or not, guess this answers my question then :P How does a single color look though? Bet red looks killer

Did it a while ago. http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=31839.0

I did purple a couple weeks ago. I took it back apart to make the multicolor in the video.

I was really hoping outsourcing would find someone who came up with something.

All I've managed since has been iridescent cellophane from Hobby Lobby etc. It scatters the light unevenly. My camera isn't catching it though. With a single color LED, it performs like regular film. With a color mixed LED, like Cyan, Purple etc., it looks like a tube of ice, I think. It gets blotchy rings that give it a core and uneven edges of colors within the mix. Like pink and blue with VA LED. With white LEDs and a filter, that also gives me cores of the main color and edges of many colors. No doubt due to minor levels of every wavelength leaking through the filter even as the main wavelength dominates. The iridescent cellophane film still separates those wavelengths. I may try mixing my filters in pieces to see if I can control which 3 colors will be represented in the iridescence.
