The "mystery" saber was an Aeon V2. Pretty cool looking, but very thin OD on it. May wind up being a gift for my nephew depending on if it starts to speak to me or not. Review to come after I've had some play time with it, but here's a couple quick pics:

It actually looks pretty cool with the Renegade pommel, I think. I actually got this pommel to go on my LIberator... but we'll see what happens. Tegan might want it more than the claws. I doubt it though. She loves mean looking swords and sabers. Anything that looks like you should wield it while riding a dragon is right up her alley lol

I'm hoping to start and complete the mods on this guy this weekend. I'm really looking forward to getting this finished and photographed :)

Kinda bummed I didn't get the one piece saber stand. I know it says "random" stand. But I was really hoping for one of them. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Man that Monarch is gorgeous! That renegade pommel looks like a lot of fun to switch out and try on different sabers. Looking forward to seeing what kind of mods you come up with. Point! Excellent review too!!!

Great unboxing and pics. What an awesome haul of sabers. Every time I see a Mantis I want one more. I think your idea of an Azure Mantis with a yellow blade would look sweet.

Hey, great review, Isola, especially after a 13 hour day! The silver/black bezel combo does look quite, quite good indeed on your Mantis and Monarch, especially with them being the CE versions and nickel finish already having a slightly smokier appearance anyway. I'll get nickel plating every time it's an option, no hestitation.  It's so worth it.  Thanks for the shout out, the pictures and the video - tis my pleasure to give you a point, good sir. I really hope it was the greatest moment there surprising Tegan with her Valentine's Day saber. Had to be epic!

Great score on the grab bag sabers, too.  I especially like the standard issue.  I won one in the Winter Raffle and gave it to my wife, and she loves it, and I did not see that coming. She was totally supporting me with my enthusiasm in them, but said she never really wanted one of her own - until she saw that Standard Issue and instantly wanted it.  Had I known I would've saved it for a Valentine's Day surprise, too.

It would have been fun but I already lost it :D she claimed it lol. And I doubt I'll get it back after I fix the claws to the WG emitter either haha. Looks like I need to buy another one for my Liberator

Nice sabers. That Monarch does look nice. I'll need one myself at some point. Also cool that you now also have a Consular Green Standard Issue saber like mine :P I got the Manticore high pommel on mine though for some character. I like the War Glaive emitter with just the two claws on actually, looks mean :P

Just watched your review. Very nice. I am ready to get a Mantis now. And your idea of an Azure Mantis in SY would be awesome. Great pics. The VA with BH FoC might have changed my mind about FoC. Anyways, great review and pics.

The SI is Arctic Blue not Green. The only green saber I have is SRD. I think the only way I'd get CG is if it comes in a grab bag, or for a planet series hilt.

I agree about the two claws. I think that was my favorite combo!



Man I honestly wish I'd gotten BH on mine too. It looks so so good in person it's not even close to fair. She got such a nice saber and I want it lol


We also played around with the WG emitter as an emitter last night as I had a few screws that kind of fit. Enough to hold the claws on anyways.

I think it would look awesome with the normal clawed Mantis emitter on top with a regular blade. Then the WG emitter on the bottom as a pommel with another led installed and a 6" blade so it's double ended without being a staff.

Awww, man, no screws on the war glaive emitter?? How come? =( Thanks for the shoutout! =) The mantis does look awesome with the clawed emitter as pommel by the look of the pics, reminiscent of the talon of a dragon or wyvern.
Oooh, dat standard issue looks great, I still haven't got one as a grab bag... And the monarch, wow, I wish the emitter was MHS compatible, not too keen on the body but reeeeeally liking that emitter! (and the pommel on other cylindrical sabers looks hilarious XD)
See, I got a dominix V2 as the prize/grab bag, just like your aeon, and I love it! It's so slim and easy to handle! I can can understand that it isn't the most aesthetically pleasing saber, but meh, it's a nice stunt saber.

Great review, Isola! I hope you end up getting screws for the claws, that mantis looks great with the claws! (kind of want one now on which to use my own war glaive emitter). How heavy does the mantis feel?

I have no idea why there are no screws to fix the claws on  :o. I sent Marlena an e-mail to check because I need to know if the clawed Mantis emitter will have screw to fit the claws. I asked her to let me know the size of them if neither emitter will have screws so that I can go get some from the store :)


I haven't got a SI as a grab bag either. That one was ordered specifically. But hell yeah it's great. Liking it more and more now that I put my Liberator pommel on it and it's got the extra machined lines to cap it off. It can stay like that until I buy another pommel for it :)

Not sure the emitter would look too good on anything else to be honest, it's much fatter than it looks in photos. And sweet Jesus is it heavy! The Monarch is actually the heaviest out of them which surprised me. It's much bigger than it looks in photos and videos too, it's got one hell of a girth to it. If you held one I think you'd instantly change your mind about the body. It just works so well. It feels like a big pepper grinder or an old school lathed bed/chair/table leg.

The Mantis is definitely no lightweight either though. I'm actually shocked that all three of the premium hilts are so heavy compared to my other 4 sabers. (the Aeon only weighs about 3oz though lol). It's got two really comfy handling points depending on what way you want to use it. I didn't get much time to experiment with it, so I didn't get to try out backhand grips or spins before it was claimed and never put down lol.

Don't get me wrong on that Aeon, I actually love the look of it, and it has a great two handed grip length. But it's so thin and light that it just doesn't feel.... right. I'm not sure what it is. I'll take it outside and spin it around on the weekend and see if I start to get a better feel for it. At the moment it's just kind of like the only dog at a cat show. I think it would probably make a better staff than a saber tbh.

Ooo, an aeon/dominix V2 staff would definitely feel nice! So much room for the hands to go to, and such a relief after using a full, heavy Menace SE staff! The only thing I don't like about them V2s is that they cannot have sound due to their thinness =( And I did not imagine the monarch to be that big! I'd prefer it to be smaller, more reminiscent of Palpatine's sabers, but well, it still looks like a giant chess piece, which is a win in my book XD (a giant chessboard with sabers being used instead of chess pieces just came to my mind, someone should get to this if it hasn't been done before XD).

A bit gutted with the mantis, it looks beautiful, but I'd prefer it to be light enough for a single hand, just how curved hilts are "meant to be". Still gorgeous though, and really prods my curiosity as to how I would go about wielding it with two hands.

Oh, sorry, for a moment there I though the SI was a grab bag since many people have been lucky enough to get one as a grab bag (then again, people have been lucky enough to get a prophecy and even a manticore as grab bags). I do need one though sometime. In fact, I think I know what I'll do XD I'm in the process of making my own custom machined Dooku saber, and it'll need electronics! What I'll probably do is get a SI with V4 sound, then gut it to use the electronics on the Dooku one, and then just have the SI as a comfortable stunt.

The Monarch and Mantis are easy one hand wield sabers, so don't stress :)

That is so sweet looking. I think I kind of like that even more than the original emitter. I guess war glaive emitter gets added to the wish list.

I really like it too. We're hoping the clawed Mantis emitter comes in soon so we can do a direct comparison between the two.

This is super funny; My saber is a Dark Monarch, my mate chose the Aeon v2 and my best friend chose the mantis.
