OK, tough list.  Tough to come up with actresses?  No, not in the least.  Tough to limit it to only 14.  So many super talented ladies out there.  I spent a bit more time on this than I do many of my lists, which are usually done one the fly.  I wanted to focus more on acting, not just beauty.  Sure, there are plenty of beautiful women on my list, but I picked the ones I did not because of that, but because I really enjoy them in their roles.  I picked women with range, who can sell me a role.  After all, if I wanted to just go by beauty, I could have put Megan Fox on my list.  Sorry if that sounds mean, but think of the number of times you've  heard Megan Fox praised for her acting.  So, I tried to keep it to good actresses, not just beautiful ones.  It just so happens that many great actresses are also beautiful.  And, there are plenty who aren't beautiful.  I also tried to stay away from women who are really talented, but that I've seen in one or two things.  While I love them in those things, I don't have enough of a basis for picking them.  If I wanted to do that, I could have had this list done in 30 seconds, but it wouldn't have been a true list of my favorites.  And, of course, I had to leave people off, as always.

But yes. One of my favorite things about her is how she masterfully plays a host of characters on one show. And they're not just variations of the same thing, but individual performances.

Although, I still want to know why Cosima's boobs are bigger than the other clones'.

Push up bras, padding, maybe some hormonal treatments. Maybe she just is more comfortable showing the girls off. Allison is too buttoned up, Sarah is too business-like to show the goods, and Helena wears shapeless clothing.

Based on screencaps of the one movie were she went topless, she's medium sized.

I always viewed her as petite. Felix actually brought attention to that quandary in an episode; that Cosima's boobs were bigger than Allison's or Sarah's. Yet to be explained. I love how they brought attention to the chaos of human cloning. That no matter how many you make, none will be a carbon copy of another.

Not necessarily. My question was more about the reasons behind the character physiology and not how they achieved it on the actress. Neither diminishes the respect I have for her ability to act.

What? Logos asked a legitimate plot point about a perceived inconsistency in the show, and I replied in a respectful way that offered potential explanations as to why.

Oh I got that. But, and maybe this is just me, discussing breast size is not a classy act. Not having a go at anyone, but it's funny that conversations about looks, body type/size didn't occur in the male actors thread.

Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid as I don't want the thread devolving into commenting on just these talented ladies looks.

Eh I get that, but a lot of that attitude has to do with the learned behavior that, with the exception of a medical or legal setting, any talk about a person's body is considered sexual in nature and not for public consumption, even if said talk is not sexual in nature and is more informative.

And rightly so, as we have a completely different thread for that kind of talk. But I think it's safe to point out that many of us don't view the male form threw the same spectrum as the female form. We started talking Orphan Black and I admittedly got sidetracked. ::)

That was my major criteria for my picks; I based my choices on acting ability alone, despite any attraction I might have for them physically. However, the ability to act (taking on a false identity and producing manufactured thoughts and emotions convincingly) takes no small amount of intelligence, and I find intelligence sexy....and classy.

OLLA - Yes
Snowpiercer was never released in cinemas over here (but I will be buying it on bluray soon). But I know Tilda and Captain America are in it, along with quite a few other great character actors.

I bypassed A Bigger Splash, but may give it a go on your recommendation

Nope, but I am not like you and Knox and spend all my time watching movies (not saying that it's a bad thing). I will say this about her, she looks the part of everything I've seen her in.

SNOWPIERCER is super, super good. She's barely recognizable, and Chris Evans is utilized extremely well. Octavia Spencer (another one of my faves) is also in it. ;D

A BIGGER SPLASH is a genuinely great adult drama. Swinton plays what's probably our closest thing to her being Bowie yet, and Ralph Fiennes is magnificent in it. It has some striking imagery too, such as this shot of our queen:

She's great in everything she is in. I have yet to see a bad performance from her. Have you seen We Need to Talk About Kevin?

Great book too. I enjoyed the movie so much it made me go and read the book (and as we all know, black people have been banned from reading books ever since the introduction of a Parliamentary ruling in 1892)

Knox, I think it would have been more merciful (NTM Practical) on your part to have split actors/actresses into at least 3 groups apiece: American, British, Other (as American and British cinema preoccupies my viewing) or perhaps just split the lists as domestic and foreign. This would have made things interesting because not everyone has the same definition of 'domestic'. ;)

I believe that's called "segregation" and we don't practice such things anymore!  :P :D

I also said it would have been practical. And even you have to admit that the vast majority of actors/actresses on your lists come from one of our great nations.

And a slight taste of mercy keeps the peons coming back.

That's all part of the fun of the game, having a topic that drives people insane when they can't include ALL of their favourites on their list. However, these list have done what I hoped, which is open up a back-and-forth dialogue between members about movies, even ones that they couldn't include on their list. In that respect, we're all winners (some of us more than others though. The final judges ruling has yet to be decided on that :D).

You know as well as I do that had you not wanted to include certain films on your list, you could have very easily said "action, no sci fi or fantasy"...

Well, if you would prefer, I could always contact a moderator and ask them to include that rule...

I'm not asking for moderator interference. I was simply pointing out an instance where you were not as merciless as you usually are.
