Title: Re: My Ultrasaber Blade Pics
Post by: Kalibos on October 25, 2011, 08:52:22 PM
Hi guys below are photos of all the different non custom blade colours that Ultrasbers offer at present, They are presented in both Mid-grade and Ultra edge so they can be easily compared. I have
endevoured to keep the colours as true as possible. (Mods please feel free to post this thread where you think it will be the most helpful.) Kalibos

OMG!

Good job.

STICKY THIS!!!

This is the BEST guide ever.

You can really see the difference in the blades. the light plastic on the Mid grade.

With the Sentinel you can clearly see how with the longer blade at the tip it starts to turn orange.ish

LITTLE TIP: Since most of us aren't as skilled a photographer as our brother here. When taking pictures or looking at pics that other's put up. look at the Aura/Hue the saber casts on it's surroundings because that is the true color.

The SRD doesn't look SRD but the color it casts on the Stand is the True SRD color. Since Cameras suck.

Good show sir, good show.

Point for you. ;D

EXCELLENT thread! I have to comment though, I hope that in the future there might be a set of Heavy Grade photos as well. Including them in your comparison would make for a most complete guide! :)

Very little difference between mid grade and heavy grade blades light wise I took the photos but left them out from the guide as like the differnrance was minimimal. (how do I sticky a thread? or doeas a mod do this?)

A mod has to do it but they surely will.

Kalibos I am saving the Sentinel Yellow Pictures. A lot of people ask what looks best and if they do I'd like to use these as a reference. Credit of pictures when posted will go to you.

very good guide but i wonder something.  i notice you are using a RGB to display all the colors.  does the RGB portray accurately the colors of the single LEDs?  very good use of your photography skills.

Near enough as not to make any difference my friend, They also seem more powerful as they require 4 x AAA batteries to operate where as some of the single colour sabers require only 2 x AAA batteries. (the sentinel yellow was very difficult to photograph!)

I believe it!

Is that because it's so close in the color spectrum to natural light?

My SY sabers show up either really bright white yellow or mor orange.

Also may jsut be me but why does the Emitter on the normal proph look longer than the Dark Proph emitter?

i see.  for some of the lights, it seems darker in ultra-edge as seen in the guardian blue picture.   and how did you get the arctic blue and the SRD?  as far as i know they are both a mix of green and blue.

As you can see, his Dark Prophecy is tuned to have SRD while his light Prophecy is tuned to have AB.

oh now i get it.  just like asking for it in a comment. like making the blue/green more/less prominent in the mixes.  but that raises more questions.  argh!

Problem is these colors aren't exactly accurate.  The RGB saber doesn't make Violet Amethyst or Sunriders Destiny or Adegan Silver.

And even the Red, Green, and Blue look slightly different on an RGB saber than it's single color counterpart.

Though kalibos pics are good color still does vary like deep said ,but never the less this will be a good place for this thread. so people post them blade color pics! Try to be as be as accurate as possible and post the saber in several dark room backgrounds to find which shows off the color the best. Also be specific on whether the led is RGB or a single led.

Great thread! I really enjoyed seeing the differences in color depending on the blade type. :)

For most of the colors, I really like the Ultra Edge blade, However I did notice on Silver and Purple a fairly noticeable difference in color between the Ultra Edge and the Mid Grade.

Great pics, I wasn't to sure on what blade to pick with the guardian blue, even though I have gotten some suggestions. This has helped me make my final decision for sure, thanks a lot for posting this!  ;D

You know, it's funny - I come back to this thread all the time to see if I prefer something in Standard Edge or Ultra Edge and also show it to my friends when trying to convince them to buy a saber.  :)

Even if the colours aren't 100% accurate to their single LED counterparts it's an excellent comparison between SE and UE.

I love how the utra edge blades make the blade look, they really look so real. Great fullness to the blade! Can't wait to finally get my first ultrasaber. Just a few more weeks!  ;D

Just remember that on camera they look like the movies, but in real life since your eyes can adjust to the light they don't look like that exactly. I think that on camera the UE makes a better picture for most colors, but for blazing red the standard blade looks much better in my opinion.

I notice that the OP has a really nice white with all dies lit, but my RGB saber has a slightly skewed reflector and idk if that is causing it but I get this pink color from it. It is also more apparent now that I have a blade plug, I can tell that the light is hitting one side of the saber causing some dimness in the blade. I still like it a lot as i can switch colors on the fly, but for nearly $100 more the performance doesn't seem to compare to the single color blades.

Yea, I know Akos, which is great for making movies with the camcorder or taking pictures.

Hmm....... decisions, decisions. I honestly think I'll need to go with Arctic Blue for mine. Currently saving for an Aeon LE V3.

Nice. Arctic Blue looks much nicer in an Ultra Edge blade I think. Not so well in regular Mid Grade. That's just me though. But then Sentinel Yello looks best in a regular Mid Grade/Heavy Grade blade.

Love that hilt with the War Glaive claw on it.  I was totally thinking about a War Glaive claw for my Bellicose but I'm happy with the Raven claw.  .. Maybe I'll go with the other on my next purchase.

I'm a bit late to the party, but thank you for this awesome comparison. You can really see the difference between the color in mid grade and Ultra Edge and how certain colors emphasize the "light in a tube" effect.

Point +1

Nice. I thought you couldn't do Arctic Blue with RGB though. This must be an older Prophecy when it still had RGB.

Very nice. I like the Blazing Red in the Ultra Edge blade still but looks more classic in the Mid Grade. Getting all new Heavy Grades next week though for some of my sabers that could use them =]
