Title: MAC: Ultrasabers Launcher with Diamond Controller UPDATED & SIGNED 03-18-2020 Post by: Deep on July 12, 2017, 11:22:55 PM If you already have a previous version of the Launcher installed you should uninstall the older pre-v2.64 Launcher and install the new 2.64 version. Do NOT run the MaintenanceTool. Please completely uninstall the older version and install the new 2.64 version.
If the OS won't allow installation then the you must have the "Allow apps downloaded from:" set to "App Store and identified developers". This is found in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General tab. When and where should I expect to find that link to download the 2.4?

Title: Re: MAC: Ultrasabers Launcher with Diamond Controller UPDATED 11-20-2017 Post by: Joden on October 25, 2018, 01:00:15 PM I am having trouble getting it to work with the latest version on our MacBook Pro. We are running the High Sierra operating system with a USBC connection. We cannot seem to get the lightsaber connected to the diamond software. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the software numerous times. Tried plugging in and unplugging the saber.
Also I am curious of the popping sounds being made by some of the sound fonts that come default. Thank you - Jedi Shadow Joden Thorne Title: Re: MAC: Ultrasabers Launcher with Diamond Controller UPDATED 11-20-2017 Post by: scifidude79 on October 25, 2018, 01:21:06 PM Also I am curious of the popping sounds being made by some of the sound fonts that come default. Can't help you with your Mac problems, but I can say those popping sounds are in the fonts themselves. I hear the same thing in my Obsidian V4 sabers. We are running the High Sierra operating system with a USBC connection. We cannot seem to get the lightsaber connected to the diamond software. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the software numerous times. Tried plugging in and unplugging the saber. I am running High Sierra on a MacBook Pro and having no issues with the UltraSabers Launcher software. That said, I'm running a late 2015 model currently; with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 1 ports. I know the latest MacBook Pros come with USB C / Thunderbolt 2 ports only, so I'm not certain if that is a potential issue. How are you converting to Micro USB to connect to the Diamond board? The reason for my question is that I have USB C-to-Micro USB adapter cables (single piece cable), and I have just small adapters. I would think a single piece cable would minimize problems, but maybe try both. Per this thread (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=41885.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=41885.0)), the Launcher will no longer be compatible with the latest MacOS software in less than two months (based on Apple's normal software release schedule). Do you have an ETA on when the Launcher will be updated to address this issue? It seems that this is a 32-bit app, and MacOS is pushing all apps to be 64-bit apps. (See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208436 (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208436) for the official word from Apple.) Title: Re: MAC: Ultrasabers Launcher with Diamond Controller UPDATED 10-02-2019 Post by: jeffrey.hallett on November 09, 2019, 06:25:00 PM No clue how to get this to open properly on Catalina. Been back and forth with Marlena a number of times; she really tried to get me help but we couldn't crack it. I tried the various tips on the web to diable Gatekeeper and such, but I get the cryptic message "can't be opened". Oddly enough, this is different than the normal errors associated with non-notarized apps or apps from unknown developers.

I tried the various tips on the web to diable Gatekeeper and such, but I get the cryptic message "can't be opened". Oddly enough, this is different than the normal errors associated with non-notarized apps or apps from unknown developers. I have a newer Mac (just bought it in July), but I haven't updated in to Catalina. Why? Some of my music engraving software companies indicated before it was that Catalina has some issues. I'm not sure exactly what they are, but it I don't plan on updating until all the bugs are worked out. All of my software (including the Ultrasabers Launcher) works just fine right now so I'm not in a hurry to update.Title: Re: MAC: Ultrasabers Launcher with Diamond Controller UPDATED 10-02-2019 Post by: Cyclops942 on November 18, 2019, 07:09:07 PM I have emailed RSX Engineering (the folks who wrote the software), and have tried what they recommended, but even that (re-enabling the "Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere" option) didn't work, so I reached out to them again via email.
Title: Re: MAC: Ultrasabers Launcher with Diamond Controller UPDATED 10-02-2019 Post by: Cyclops942 on November 21, 2019, 01:57:59 PM Big news!!!! I got the Mac Installer to work! RSX_Engineering worked with me and tracked down the issue, and gave me these instructions to share here:
=============================================== Instructions for running the 'UltraSabers Launcher for Mac' Current workaround to run unsigned app on macOS 10.15, assuming the app is downloaded&un-zipped in Downloads/UltraSabersLauncher_OfflineInstaller.app: 1. Open terminal 2. Type&run: sudo spctl --master-disable 3. Open System Preferences -> Security & Privacy, check that Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere is selected (click on the lock to make sure) 4. Type&run: chmod -R +x Downloads/UltraSabersLauncher_OfflineInstaller.app 5. Run the offline installer from the finder (Open the app with right-click/control-click>Open and install the app wherever you want); run the UltraSabersLauncher app after (from the location you installed the app) 6. Type&run: sudo spctl --master-enable Notes: - 2: Activates the "Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere" in the interface (deactivates the Gatekeeper security) - 4: Makes the app executable (macOS disables the execute flag of the executable), please make sure you enter the correct path to the installer - 6: Re-activates the Gatekeeper security (Allow apps downloaded from: App Store and identified developers) =============================================== Like I said, this worked for me, so give it a shot! And yes, that last step is optional, but I'm glad it was included, so that the machine would be put into its previous security state. Personally, I skipped the last step, too, for the same reason you did, but I applaud the fact that it's there. Will I be able to use a USB-4/Thunderbolt hub with USB-A ports and still update my Diamond saber? Will I be able to use a USB-4/Thunderbolt hub with USB-A ports and still update my Diamond saber? The answer is yes; yes, it works fine, as verified with an M1 MacBook Air running MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 this evening. It also works just fine when an Obsidian v4 saber is plugged in instead of a Diamond saber; it detects and identifies the boards properly. As usual, the trick is using a cable (mini-USB for the Obsidian v4, and micro-USB for the Diamond) that will transmit both power AND data. Since nobody answered the question ahead of time, I decided NOT to trade in my older laptop when I bought my new one. And since I had to make the test anyway for my own use, I figured I’d share the knowledge here, and maybe help out someone else. That sort of behavior is one of the things that makes this a good community, and I want to keep it that way, not drag it down.
