Title: Four - that's right - 4 Mysterby Box Sabers Post by: Krilleth Luxio on August 05, 2017, 08:38:31 PM Alright so the title might be a little misleading, as I don't get my mystery box sabers for a few days.
BUT While they're in transit being shipped to my lovely mailbox, or doorstep, I thought I'd make a fun little discussion about what people think they might be. SO Comment on what colours I might get, what the 4 hilts might be, and if you think I might get one with sound. I've seen a lot of V4's going through the mystery boxes, which is what I think I'll end up with in various finishes and blade colours. I'll update people in a few days once they've arrived. So the order came in and I was surprised to see the following: Dark initiate v4 LE in guardian blue Dark initiate v4 LE in arctic blue Sentinel V4 in silver And my biggest surprise: Raven in silver with premium sound. These were all from 75$ mystery boxes. Like Forest Gump, you never know what you're gonna get... then add on... but you can't lose for trying it out. Congrats on those 4 sabers! I've seen the Dark Initiate quite a bit, but a Sentinel and Raven are especially a treasure.

Thinking both dark initiates as silver for dual wielding or making a double bladed sabre, then place the arctic blue in the raven, and the guardian blue in the sentinel. The raven isn't FOC so it should be easy enough to switch. Pics to be posted after the switcheroo

Still, that's not a huge deal. You can physically move the LED itself to another heat sink easily enough. In fact, it can be done without even undoing any of the wiring on the LED itself because of how UltraSabers builds their LED heat sinks. 8)

I LOVE this saber.....it can sith or even old republic is in style...I have mine in BR, but toying with the idea of putting in a Sentinel yellow LED....Your dark Initiatives look awesome!!! Nice score on your mystery boxes!!!

It is hard to decide when you can only view them on the website, fortunately I go to Dragon Con and Ultrasabers sets up a booth there. One I NEVER thought I would purchase was the renegade, it just looked to way too way and cumbersome. Upon visiting there booth and getting to really see it sold me on this. Just like your enjoyment of the Raven. I will agree that a leather wrap would be spectacular on this hilt. Enjoy!

And, I know from firsthand experience that the Sentinel is awesome in blue. The Raven looks really nice in Arctic Blue. It was a good move putting that LED in that saber anyway, since it has premium sound. The buck puck will work better for that color than the resistor in the stunt.

A question on the LED swap. On the stunt sabers it is just a matter of clipping the two wires on the current LED and then soldering on the new ones, right? The force saw fit to provide my a number of arctic blues, but I'd like switch at least one of them to red. Just clip the wires for the led (give yourself about 2 inches from the heat sink), exposed the wire by trimming the outer cover off, put heat shrink further down the wire, soldered them back together and heat shrunk the exposed parts. I personally modify all my sabers with a quick release. I can do it a lot cheaper than what US charges for it, and if I'm swapping led's around, it makes my life a lot easier to put them back together. |
