Title: Alternate pommels for Lost Grey
Post by: Lorelai on August 06, 2017, 06:46:36 AM
Hey guys, asking for some opinions here! I'm getting really fond of the Lost Grey, except the pommel is way too bulky for my tastes and I'm having trouble picturing it with the others.

What other pommels do you think would look good on that hilt? I really prefer a sleeker look, so I'm leaning towards the Catalyst's pommel myself.

Dark catalyst/Catalyst pommel is, in my opinion, the hands down, #1 winner for the non "replica" or ornate hilts. Im not familiar with the up close look of the lost grey, but the C/DC pommel is certainly a sleek option just as a part.

Because of the thickness of the outer shroud the Catalyst pommel will look quite silly because the Catalyst body (and it's pommel) are both quite thin and streamlined, but the Lost Grey is much thicker. They won't line up quite how you are picturing them to. Here is a photo of a Dark Catalyst pommel on a Dark Mantis body which needs a wide pommel like the Lost Grey. This is what it will look like on a Lost Grey too

hazard502 uses a bellicose short pommel on his Fulcrum or Lost Grey (can't remember which) and it looks really cool. You need to stick with the wider pommels though. So a Bane, Raven/Raven SS, Monarch, Manticore High Profile to name a few. I think a Raven standard would be a good match.

Hopefully that is of some help to you.

This right here.  I have a Lost Gray and it's very thick due to the shroud.  In order to not have the issue Isola describes (and shows) you need a pommel designed for a shrouded hilt.

Oh that's good to know, I didn't realize the shroud was that thick from the photos! Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the ones you recommended :)

I think the catalyst pommel looks kinda interesting there as a pseudo "brass knuckle" sort of weapon. A mini mace sticking out the butt of your saber hilt, like its specifically designed that way. Then again, ive learned how to use the hilt of a sword as a weapon during training so that kinda sticks with me as a concept.

These fine gents are correct, I use a Bellicose pommel on my LOST GREY because like you I wanted a sleeker look, and I really like it.

Isola pointed out some good options, depending on what color buttons you have a Consular pommel would look nice (what I'd use if I had a second), or an Archon classic pommel - also very nice IMO (but I won't share it, it belongs on my Archon :D ).

I'd love to see a picture of your Lost Grey if you have it posted somewhere! The Bellicose does look nice in the photos, but a full visual always helps :D

I'd probably get it with gold or bronze buttons, possibly a mixture depending on my mood when I have the funds to order it.

It does look interesting with the size difference, just not the type of look I'm going for. I can see how it'd be attractive though!

I'd be happy to post a pic, I can only do it on my phone atm so it has to be a link to the image.

My Lost Grey is with gold buttons, gold covertec wheel and a silver non-ill AV switch in Tri-CG -

Oh that does look cool! Definitely putting the bellicose pommel on the list of candidates, thank you :D

Hmm, I'm having trouble picturing them in my head, I think I might need to request some of these in the emitter/pommel thread for visual reference! Thanks for the ideas ^^

@Lorelai, I have that ring :P Its nice. I know off topic but still :P If you're looking for comfort though Manticore high pommel really would be a nice one to get for your saber

Lol I have the ring pic saved for when I can afford it ;D

The manticore does look good! I made a request in the reference thread for pics so hopefully I will be able to see it on the hilt soon!

Personally, I prefer the Menace pommel on a Manticore. The Menace pommel is pretty much a Manticore LP without the lines. It's nice because it has the same taper as the tail end of the Manticore body.

I'll try to get a pic of my setup tonight.

Here's some pommels I have. Not my area so don't mind the mess at the moment x.x Best I could do. Shock normal pommel left, Manticore high pommel middle, Archon Classic pommel right. I say these 3 because they have that grip stopper thing there which is nice for whichever your main grip hand is

I love my Lost Gray Saber, but I have to agree with you, the Pommel is a bit bulky and adds an extra couple of inches (which is unnecessary I think). I bough the Overlord Pommel, and I think it works really well with it! It makes the saber smaller and lighter, and therefore easier to maneuver!

I would've pictured that too but I don't have my Overlord on me at the moment x.x
