Title: Custom Consular work Post by: Therion Jinn on November 24, 2017, 03:45:43 AM I showed the initial bits of this not long after I got it, but I've done a little work on the shroud with the custom Consular I call "Tren'nala'dor's Heart" based on another of my Old Republic characters.
This started as a Consular with Obsidian V4 sound and Bane's Heart LED. I swapped out the emitter with an Archon V2.1 emitter. The pommel is a Dark Warglaive pommel. What I did today was mask off a pattern in the shroud, then used Aluminum Black to darken the bare areas. It's shown here with my 'stock' Consular (http://i.imgur.com/FelI5HV.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/m2jkBbC.jpg) What I did today was go in and remask the sleeve and, using some steel wool, remove the aluminum black that I'd done previously. Leaving the masking in place, I gave some salt water etching a try in the same pattern. I have to say that the method I found on YouTube works great, but I'd warn about some nasty fumes and recommend using a respirator if you do this. The results look a LOT more like what I was tryign to achieve originally. That looks absolutely fantastic. It looked great before, when you just had the masked and painted shroud. But, etching it just kicked it up about ten notches. Awesome stuff. :D

It started with swapping out the emitter for the Arbiter version, and the pommel for the one from the Dark Warglaive (http://i.imgur.com/HNndTAn.jpg) Masked off portions of the sleeve and used aluminum black to create the design work (http://i.imgur.com/FKsyohE.jpg) Cleaned off the aluminum black and redid the design using salt water etching (http://i.imgur.com/nQv82zM.jpg) Laying out the new idea for the saber. The plan is to replace the current emitter and pommel with the pommels from the Initiate V5s I used in 'Paladya's Storm.' (http://i.imgur.com/Zin3F7S.jpg) After drilling and tapping the holes for the retention screws, I used aluminum black to darken and weather the new emitter and pommel. I deliberately darkened the 'inlay' sections more than the ridges to set them off and blend in more with what I already had. After a matte finish was sprayed on, I assembled the new version of 'Tre'nala'dor's Heart.'
