Title: Need Help Customizing an Archon V2
Post by: Manroon on November 15, 2011, 01:53:01 AM
Hey gang, I find myself in need of advice on a custom job. I purchased an Archon V2 as a christmas present for my Sis. Besides having a devil of a time keeping my hands off of it, I have to get some custom work done before I present it to her. I bought a TCSS No. 8 Box to put on it, as she's a BIG OT fan, and also a BIG Luke fan. That's the reason I picked the saber, actually, so she could have something very ROTJ yet still unique. Problems have arisen. The Sleeve on the box won't fit over the hilt. I hit on an idea to get around this. I plan to put it on the neck instead! It'll be more unique, and I think the look is just superb.

My problem is, it won't fit over the neck piece either. I was wondering if anyone knows of a 2" male-male neck/coupler/extension that is small enough in diameter to fit inside the sleeve of the No. 8 Box? I've browsed TCSS, but was having a hard time finding outter diameter measures on parts. XP If anyone can point me to a part that will work, or a combination of parts, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks guys!

Here's an idea.  It might be scary:

1- Cut the sleeve down the middle so that you have two roughly even halves

2- clean up the cut so it looks good

3- slide it on the desired area of the hilt and adjust so that it looks good.  The sleeve halves should 'clamp' down on the saber fairly tightly.

4- tighten the sleeve halves so that it doesn't slide around.  This can be done with hose clamps, superglue, bolts, or whatever works for you.

Just a thought - maybe the ring part could be cut off and the box welded on?

Thanks guys, but I'm really liking the idea of just putting it as a replacement to the neck piece, if I can find a small enough diameter double male extension or coupler. See, I want this to look really clean and professional, and I don't want to leave gaps in the sleeve like I had to on Otenbasan (my Bellicose). I especially don't want to leave any possible sharp edges, as she's a little clumsy with those. lol Don't want to use glue or anything either if I can help it, as she has asthma and can get pretty dang sensitive at times. (It's seriously unbelievable) XP

But thanks again, and FTR Kaiden, that's exactly what I had to do on the Bellicose for myself. lol

So anyways.... uh... anyone got anything on an extension that would work? :-\

You could always email Ultra and Deep to find out what activation box Ultra used on that coustom Archon V2 he made.It looked great and was functional!

Don't forget to let us see it when you get it done.

To put my two cents. Could you have bought a "Activation box style 1" and put the screws on the hilt?

I will remember the next time I open Hal, but if this is of any help right now: I would say "I like you", and Hal would say, "Oh <UserName, would you like it if we both like each other?"

Oooook this is pretty far off topic I think... let's see what we can do about that!

You got any updates on the Archon, Manroon?

Actually, the parts should be in soon. TCSS mailed them on.... monday, I think it was. Monday or Tuesday. So they should be here maybe today or tomorrow. Woulda been sooner, but I believe they took friday off last week (when I ordered), and don't work weekend overtime (as Ultra and Deep so often seem to put in). So I hope to be able to clean up and put the thing together tonight! If so, I'll shoot some stills and a video for you guys and throw it up tomorrow.

BTW, if ya check the tribute sabers thread I threw up a video of the finished product I was planning over there. ;)

Here! *Tosses Manroon Spam Knife*

Now if you REALLY wanna customize that thing, put a Consular emitter on it, and call it the Arconsular!

*catches knife* Thanks. *shoots spambot and spreads to make sandwich* I'd do that, but I saw it in the guide and don't care for it. I'll be putting up pics of the combos I DO like tomorrow . :)

The Archon with just the choke looks kinda unique itself.

True, I liked that one too. Only problem was the grip was awkward and too low for the length. I think if I flipped the coupler and choke ( making the choke about a quarter inch higher) it would have balanced better. Looks very shiny and old republic that way too. :)

Nice customizations manroon. I like the super long customization, though it looks like it would balance wierd. Very cool!

Wow those are some cool customizations!  Great video too Manroon, it's kinda interesting to see a massive version of the Luke V2... and I just love that TCSS choke on it.  I love that so many US products are now MHS compatible, so many customization options!

Interesting!  Nice look, especially with the double ended male adaptor, I like it.  Question:  given the LED is below the choke and the choke is narrower than the blade, does the narrowing of the choke seem to cut off a lot of the light?

Peace,

Kannik

Peace,

I was worried about that myself when I got the TCSS choke and saw how much narrower the ID was.... it turned out to be an unfounded fear. Brightness does not seem to be affected! AND it even gets me back a little bit of the lost blade length the Archon's standard neck piece eats up. Something like half an inch to an inch, I think. Don't have it in front of me at the moment. lol

@Kham: Thanks! Glad ya liked it! And I agree, some of the combos were just ridiculous and rofl worthy to see and wield. What REALLY surprised me was how some of the more ridiculous ones actually kept their balance well! The super long and the Luke especially. They look like they'd be terrible, but the balance was actually quite good. lol
