Title: Has this ever happened to you?
Post by: Karmack on March 07, 2019, 04:03:21 PM
So, one of the things I love using my saber for is practicing sword katas for my martial arts training.   This morning I picked up my Sentinel V5 LE and started my kata, only to have the blade die half-way through.  This was followed by the "Obsidian" boot-up clip.

This is the sure sign of nearly dead batteries.  :-)

So, with a slight pout of disappointment, I stepped back to my office and racked my saber, put a note on my phone to pick up some AAA batteries, and pulled up my work...    And realized, after sitting down that I had not finished my Kata!

Apparently I can't do the thing if the saber is shut off.  LOL

So, the question: Has this ever happened to you?  Do you stop your activity when your saber batteries check out?

It just made me laugh.  :)  Hope it gives y'all a chuckle as well!

Can’t say that I have ever had that problem.  I frequently train with an empty hilt, but I’ve got plenty of charged sabers ready to go if I feel like annoying everyone in the house.

I've had that issue and if you're using AAA batteries, it's either one or a few of the batteries slightly popped out or they died. I typically warp electrical tape around the batteries and then use velcro strips running both horizontally and vertically to keep the battery case from floating around

Oh, its dead batteries.  :-)

What I was getting at was ... I STOPPED!   For some reason I instinctively stopped the exercise because the saber wouldn't light up! LOL

If I'm practicing with it lit, then yes, I do this all the time. If I practice without the blade ignited I don't (but that so rarely happens). ;D

I kept going but did replaced the batteries once I was done for the session though

Yeah.   I think I'm going to spring for some AAA rechargables...

The whole world stops when the batteries die. I hang my head, and walk my saber to its resting place.

As I have to constantly remind myself, there are worse things to be addicted to.

Bring your charger along people. And an extra saber so the practice may continue.

I'm a fan of silver hilts and VA blades. Love it

I am liking these....

I ordered some finish, its for model cars, a paint that is supposed to look like black chrome.   I have a test bed set up for it, once I get it.  If it looks good, I'll be using it to add some highlights to these babies...

Here's what I did with Testor's Model Master gunmetal:

Whoa!  I'm a fan of this, my plan is somewhat similar to the V4 painted.  What paint did you use?  Sealant?

And an Aeon V3:

I'm a huge fan of gold hilts too!!!! What paint did you use for these beauties?  PM if needed please :)

The paint is Testor's Model Master Acrylic, the color is Gunmetal, which is a very dark gray with some blue overtones.   Sealed with clear laquer finish.

ON the second one, the gold look is a trick of the light, the hilts are still silver.  :-)

Once I get a chance to try out the black chrome I will post some pictures and give an update on how it works.

Just go over to Hobby Lobby or a local model store.   They'll have it.
