Title: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: TheRevanchist on December 06, 2011, 09:22:55 PM http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee205/Killamonjaro5052/?action=view¤t=IMG00239-20111130-2215-1.jpg (http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee205/Killamonjaro5052/?action=view¤t=IMG00239-20111130-2215-1.jpg)

But, other than that, I can say this is probably the greatest saber I've had so far. The hilt is a simplistic yet menacing build, and to me is very sturdy. This hilt I'm able to use one handed and I'm able to duel wield as well. The color is a VERY nice bright and full purple in person, and I can say I'm very pleased with the blade color and the Obsidian capabilities. Thanks to Alex and Matt for Obsidian, and to Emory for a job well done of both of my Bane hilts. If there's any question on how the Bane handles while dueling or spinning, please feel free to ask, and I'll answer as best as I can. Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Kham-Ryn Kurios on December 06, 2011, 09:31:30 PM Very nice, I really like the bane and that purple really suits it well.

Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Master Nero Attoru on December 06, 2011, 10:34:16 PM Very cool saber man, much like the one I'm giving my brother this Christmas. I really like the Bane, it's a nice simple two handed hilt.
Just curious, why did you go for the same saber with different AV switches? I noticed your sig has two VA Banes. Just thought there might be some master plan there ;) Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Zren Tobas on December 06, 2011, 11:06:04 PM Nice saber bro. Its me Josh. xp I usually do image link that way pics get posted right in the thread, just makes it easier I think. Glad this Bane is working out for you and hope to see your other Bane soon.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: TheRevanchist on December 06, 2011, 11:56:20 PM Well, I was originally going to go for an AB Bane, but I decided one the first Bane I bought that I really liked the purple, so I figured, "Eh, why not get another purple one?", not only is purple my favorite color, but in my Jedi groups in real life, no one has a purple saber, and I don't really count RGBs if they don't use the purple on them often. So I decided to introduce purple to the groups.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Kant Lavar on December 08, 2011, 04:39:16 PM Interesting. In the store pics, the Bane looked like a freakin' monster of a hilt. In these, not so much.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Master BStone on December 08, 2011, 08:31:30 PM not ever having handled one before I was always concerned with the diameter of the hilt hindering responsiveness. How do you Bane owners find the thickness of the hilt?
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Qui-Tom Helms on December 08, 2011, 09:20:51 PM Not much wider than a Bellicose, maybe 1/32 it 1/16 of an inch.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Zren Tobas on December 08, 2011, 09:36:53 PM Do you think the new Guardian saber is bulky as they are making it seem? Or is it speculations like how they thought the Bane saber would be at first? Huge on camera but not as much in person and in hand?
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Qui-Tom Helms on December 08, 2011, 10:11:49 PM Hard to say DC. I've been looking for a TPM for well over a year now, but wanted a fully functional one, and without the high cost of some out there... even on ebay. The Guardian is ordered and as soon as I get it I'll do a review unless someone else does one first.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: TheRevanchist on December 09, 2011, 02:09:51 AM The Bane actually fits really nicely in the hand, and has good grip on it as well. It actually exceeded my expectations. To me, it's really sturdy and very versatile. I've got nothing bad to say about the Bane so far, probably never will. I'm just waiting on my first Bane to come back in so I can do some vids on duel wielding the two.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Zren Tobas on December 29, 2011, 10:48:35 PM @Revan. You're making me want a Bane more and more. xp I'm just going to go for one but mine will be pure evil Sith red with my custom Sith fonts. ;o I got like 3 or 4 of them made but yeah. I'm going to use the more pre-quel sounding font I made specifically for the Bane and eventually Raven saber when I get it.

Looks great, couldn't pick a better colorTitle: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: grave13 on July 03, 2012, 01:20:49 AM @Revan. I'm going to use the more pre-quel sounding font I made specifically for the Bane and eventually Raven saber when I get it. I just orderd a bane and pretty much got the same set up as you did with the av switch and my blade i chose DVA I have been wanting this saber a long time now. my question is how does the blade handle in the emmiter? is there any unusual movement of the blade in the emmiter? I have read that the blade sits in the hilt about 2 inches deep, just wondering how it handles for it only having 2 inches inside the hilt? I only ask because i was thinking on putting a 40 inch blade in the bane hilt but want opinions of Bne owners before i commit on getting a longer blade. Thanks in advance Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: Zren Tobas on July 03, 2012, 03:35:14 AM I think the Bane is like an MHS saber for the emitter. So if you know MHS sabers then you're good to go. I'm actually thinking of now getting a Dark Shock in VA or a Bane in AB. Not really sure yet.
Title: Re: Bane w/ Obsidian Post by: DarthGM on July 03, 2012, 06:38:37 PM It is a thick hilt, but not an unweildy one.
There is something about the hit of the Bane that calls for a two-handed grip and overhead Djem-so strikes. No finesse, just sheer brutality of combat. |
