Title: Sand Carving Post by: Jammo on December 10, 2011, 06:54:38 PM Anybody know anything about sand carving? I talked to a guy at a trophy shop that recommended it for my Aeon that I want some Aurebesh lettering added to. He showed me a sample and said they take a thin layer of metal off to achieve the effect. He also told me it may darken a tick over time, which could only increase the contrast (an effect I find positive). He told me I can get it done for somewhere between $25 and $40. Thoughts?

Edit...I found a site that explains http://sandcarving.net/ (http://sandcarving.net/) Title: Re: Sand Carving Post by: dreaming0616 on December 12, 2011, 05:04:32 PM I think you have me convinced to do this to mine too....
Just have no idea what I would put on it yet.... Title: Re: Sand Carving Post by: grave13 on December 12, 2011, 05:28:42 PM What type of place offers this type of service?
Title: Re: Sand Carving Post by: Jammo on December 12, 2011, 06:38:14 PM What type of place offers this type of service? I just walked in to a local trophy shop. I imagine that any such place in your locality might offer similar services, plus is cool to support local businesses. I had asked a person about getting an etching or carving or whatever to put my desired images and aurebesh words into a lightsaber hilt permanently and got told that it couldn't be done on a curved surface. This proves that it can, and hopefully once I can get a saber I will start at the local trophy shops.
Thanks a ton for the knowledge! You get a point ;) |
