I like the screen shot comparison.

Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: Malik Thanewulf on April 27, 2020, 12:18:00 AM I enjoyed your review. It was indeed entertaining. Hope you try the other sabers offered by Ultrasabers. I believe you will be pleased.
Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: Tai Chi Chuan Wijchen on April 27, 2020, 07:19:54 AM Hahaha, best start of a review I've seen so far!
Nothing wrong with some self-deprecating. Nice review, like the movie references! Point Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: TheReliquary on April 27, 2020, 11:12:22 PM (Forgive me but I have no idea how to embed the videos directly)

Yes, it is huge, but like you stated, the proportions are accurate. The reason it is that size (and all of the US hilts that do Obsidian v3/v4/ Emerald and Diamond) are because the battery and speaker set up are easily installed in all of those hilts. The MHS compatible hilts have to be oversized because the aluminum that is used has to be thick enough to stand up to abuse. Any thinner and it would deform. US could make their hilts from thinner but stronger steel, but that adds complexity and cost. Also more wear and tear on the tools, taps & dies needed to craft those hilts.
Yes, there are MANY lightsaber builders out there and yes, US does get their share of criticism. But, I dare you to find other builders that offer what they do at their price point and, before this current world crisis and the last Star Wars movie of the Skywalker saga drove everyone kukoo for lightsabers - a faster order to delivery time. Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: Infinit01 on April 28, 2020, 11:00:55 AM I agree with you completely, chalion. If we're looking at "cinematic accuracy", then Ultrasabers is quite close in size as well. I've had experience with the other guys myself and I'll tell you, I prefer Ultrasabers from their quality to their customer service and selection. There's truly no other like Ultrasabers but I respect anyone who goes elsewhere. We all like what we like.
That's one thing that has kept me away from other saber communities, they like to bash other companies that they don't work with nor agree with. To me, it's about getting together as a community to lift each other up and not bash the next guy for being different or liking something else entirely. There's just too much crazy going on in the world for that, especially now Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: KraytDragonPearl on April 28, 2020, 12:37:15 PM I finally got a chance to watch your review in its entirety and I appreciate your rake on the Guardian. This was also my first saber back in 2014, and I got the Emerald setup with Obsidian V3 and it still is in great shape. I’ve used it for dueling and cons and still have people stop me to see it. You will love it and you eventually get used to the heaviness

Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: KraytDragonPearl on April 28, 2020, 01:02:52 PM Since 2014, huh? Nice! What's your thoughts on it after owning it for 6 years? Still one of your favorites? Still one of my favorites? Absolutely yes!!! When I started looking at US for my first saber the Guardian was the one I kept going back to and I decided to jump all in and get exactly what I wanted, so I loaded it up with everything I could including the recharge port. I loved being able to change out my colors and sound fonts whenever I felt like it and ironically I had a Mac and spent a lot of time figuring out the configurations for the Obsidian launcher for Mac. When US introduced the Diamond board I always wanted one to see how much better it was. Since I just got my EH with the Diamond board, I haven’t had a chance to really play with it so I can’t say how I feel about that one just yet. But yes the Guardian will always have a special place in my heart since it was my first. I have the Consular and want to own the Menace and Guardian soon. That's true, you don't ever forget your first saber, having a Guardian as a first is a plus ;)
Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: drEe on April 28, 2020, 01:40:30 PM What a fun review. This is the second review of this saber I have watched and have been changing my mind on liking it. To be clear, I was not a big fan of it before and it is impressing me a bit more now.
Thank you for sharing and having fun with it. I try to be fun in my reviews but I am not sure I get to your level. ;D Enjoy your new saber! Title: Re: Guardian review Post by: Infinit01 on April 28, 2020, 02:15:42 PM It's all about doing what works for your and letting it flow naturally. I've done a few reports at work with a comical tone and everyone likes it. I had a colleague who tried to follow the steps but my boss said that he was trying to replicate me which wasn't natural. Once he found his own thing, it was great. So my point is to find what works for you and go with the flow

Glad to finally be part of the saber-collecting community!
