Title: Charging port issue on the Archon
Post by: Jedi_Phoenix on December 27, 2020, 02:32:35 PM
I couldn't find this discussed already, so I'm posting now; sorry if the answer is elsewhere.

The Archon seems to have a short or something in the charging port; anytime I plug it in, the LEDs start flashing repeatedly, and when I unplug it, the saber won't turn on.  Once I adjust the battery, however, I get the Obsidian sound cue and the saber works fine.  I can't tell if it's actually charging the batteries at all when it's plugged in.

I'm guessing we'll have to remove the batteries to charge them, which sucks cause that was the whole point of the charging port, and since my son was just given the saber, I really don't want to have to send it in for a repair job.  Any ideas or advice from you Ultrasabers veterans would be welcome.

Given when you actually bought that saber, your warranty period is ending noticeably sooner than if you had ordered it just in time for Christmas.  Having reminded you of that (probably needlessly), I’d suggest dealing with the battery removal annoyance for a couple of weeks, then sending it in for repairs.

It’s not the best situation, but it’s a suggestion.

Yeah, you're probably right.  It's my 18 year old's and he's usually pretty chill about this kind of thing.  I'll talk with him about it and see what he says, then I'll contact Ultrasabers about it and see what happens.

I just emailed Ultrasabers about it; my son says he's perfectly fine with waiting for the repairs. If push comes to shove, he can borrow one of the extras that I got.    So now, I'm just waiting for replies.

Customer Service comes through yet again; just heard from Nichole on what the procedure is to send the two sabers back for inspection and repair; besides the Archon, the Aeon needs a wire repair (post is elsewhere). So I'll be taking a trip to my local FedEx store tomorrow to get these mailed off because I don't dare trust USPS right now.

Yeah, I’ve had nothing but great service from them (once I reach them), myself.

And I don’t blame you for choosing FedEx right now; but be sure to add insurance, anyway.

The sabers made the trip safely.   Now it's just a matter of waiting.
