Title: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on January 14, 2012, 08:22:58 PM So I have had my overlord for just over a week now and thought I should write a review. Straight out of the box I knew I had chosen the right saber. The balance is strong both single handed and double. The Hilt is comfortable with ample room to grip and manipulate the blade in multiple ways. The ultra heavy edge blade can provide a decent whack (ask my housemate- nailed) although I am going to add another screw to the emitter just to be sure(I hit hard). The sound board is excellent and I am going to attempt using obsidian tomorrow. I have decided to swap the pommel for the archon pommel to give it a slightly different look and feel. I will also be experimenting with O rings and some simple "grip" additions to the lower half of the hilt. I have subsequently ordered a Prophecy V3 with an amethyst blade to contrast against the blazing red I have for my Overlord. I chose to not get sound with this saber as I would like to use it as a lamp (WHEN not fighting my housemate)
I am very pleased with my first steps into the US world and wonder what the next step is? DOes anyone know when any new hilts will be issued? I am playing around with designing one from the build your own saber section but can't quite get happy with the design. Special thanks to Emory for replying so quickly to my emails. 9/10 - Only con being li on batteries died very quickly and needed a charge on day one, been fine since though. * Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Nightwing ;) * (http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o612/Dr3wyork/th_323.jpg) (http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/o612/Dr3wyork/?action=view¤t=323.jpg) (http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o612/Dr3wyork/th_322.jpg) (http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/o612/Dr3wyork/?action=view¤t=322.jpg) (http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o612/Dr3wyork/th_321.jpg) (http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/o612/Dr3wyork/?action=view¤t=321.jpg) Pics are clicky Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: Zren Tobas on January 14, 2012, 09:55:50 PM Nice saber purchases. Hoping to see them soon. I'm not sure if there will be any new saber releases in the next weeks/months. I'm also hoping for this as well. Hope to see some more Jedi sabers.
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: Master Nero Attoru on January 14, 2012, 10:04:06 PM Glad you like it! Sounds like a cool saber.
For the Li-ion battery issue, I wouldn't worry about the longevity issue. When they come out in the mail they aren't charged, so I'm sure their next run will be much more extensive. Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on January 14, 2012, 10:18:38 PM I think I'll customise them first then post some pics. I think I want my third saber to have a slightly more organic look, so may have to think basic model with heavy modding. Another great thing about the overlord is the vented emitter, it has a real empire strikes back theme and is full of menace.
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on January 15, 2012, 12:32:26 PM Ive taken a few pics, how do I add them to this thread? Or shall I post in the pics thread?

This is your review, so feel free to post them here. You simply upload them to a photo sharing site (Photobucket or Flickr for instance) and get the BBC code. Paste that in this thread and you're good to go! Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on January 15, 2012, 04:41:32 PM Not sure what a bbc is so here is an old fashioned link!

I'll also post them in your first post. I love the Henry poster in the backround! He is the Arsenal legend. You see his goal!?
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on January 16, 2012, 09:46:00 AM Thanks night wing, obliged.
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthSolus on February 23, 2012, 10:12:11 PM LOVE that saber! The Overlord is one of the best looking sabers in BR in my opinion, and with the matching AV switch? Come on, total awesomeness. Can't wait to get mine in the mail!
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: Masi on February 23, 2012, 10:20:20 PM Dislike for the Henry poster on the wall (being a Man Utd fan :D ) but I just love the Overlord in blazing red.
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: Zren Tobas on February 24, 2012, 01:04:43 AM Nice saber seeing it more in pics now. Has your batteries been operating longer now that they've been charged since your post? I will be going for an Obsidian saber maybe in a week. Decided to go Liberator V3, Sunrider's Destiny Ultra Edge Heavy Grade blade, Obsidian with green av button, li-ions, and normal vented pommel. How does your Overlord handle in combat and spinning?
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on February 25, 2012, 05:48:44 PM Battery life is crap circa 2 hours MAX but I've started removing the batteries to stop the drain. It duels grat, one handed its light enough to be quick (ish) but two handed it becomes a beast. Very long reach and the power is great. Selling it tomorrow to my friend as I want the raven instead and he is the only one of us who hasn't got one.
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: ed_ification on February 25, 2012, 06:10:12 PM Kitten - using Li-Ion cells or traditional alkaline cells? If you use Li-Ion, you might improve the life...
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: DarthFluffyKitten on February 26, 2012, 07:19:27 PM full li-on set up
Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: Master Nero Attoru on February 27, 2012, 01:17:43 PM Battery life is crap circa 2 hours MAX but I've started removing the batteries to stop the drain. Yeah I always remove my li-ion cells as well, I recommend it to anyone with this setup. The momentary switch that Obsidian uses allows for some voltage drain while the saber is off, so you will get much less battery life if you leave them in. Title: Re: Overlord review Post by: Zren Tobas on February 27, 2012, 05:01:42 PM Thanks for the tip Nero. Point.
