Title: OG Hilt Integrity Post by: TheCharlax on January 31, 2021, 06:57:00 PM I am curious as to how durable the original PVC hilts used to be. Obviously, they were still designed or dueling, but I am wondering if by today's tournament standards, they would still be allowed.

Title: Re: OG Hilt Integrity Post by: TheCharlax on February 02, 2021, 03:08:54 AM That's what I was afraid of. Thank you for your input. As a followup, is it the fragility of the PVC that inhibits the lightsaber's duel-worthiness? And if so, could this be rectified by layering the PVC (slotting one pipe into another to reinforce it)?
Title: Re: OG Hilt Integrity Post by: Samhain138 on February 02, 2021, 04:04:44 AM Yeah I'd say it's fine for light-medium dueling but full force I'd be worried about breaking the pvc. I don't know that layering more pvc would be the way to go either.
If you're doing a build yourself maybe use an aluminum tube and use pvc on the outside? The old old hilt I have from US is sprayed with a rhino liner, but I doubt that would keep it from cracking under pressure.
