So I was struck with this idea.... true, we have a thread for posting pics of you and your saber. But that seems to be filled mostly with pics of 'I just got my saber and had to take a pic cause I'm so excited!' The idea for THIS thread is to fill it with pics of your saber(s) in various places. Everywhere and anywhere you've taken your trusty weapons! At home of course, but everywhere else as well. To work, to the park, walking down the street, to the movies, to the club, out dancing, on vacation, ANYWHERE! So let loose, and lets see where YOUR sabers have traveled!

Let's see- Two of my sabers (A TCSS build and an original red Dominix) were used in the 2009 Spiral Dance ritual in San Francisco. Unfortunately I don't have pics.

I've also taken lightsabers to New York City- the first time I took my two aggressors, but didn't get pics. The second time I took my Shock LE, and had a bit of a run around town. Here I'm at the Penn Station entrance to One Penn Plaza, and also standing on the famous red staircase in Times Square. At one point, my pic was on one of the huge screens there, which periodically showed footage of the crowd below:)

Very cool Amanita!  Great example of what this thread was made for, it makes me wish I brought my sabers into NYC more often.  I try not to embarrass my friends though... ;)

Thanks! If any NY Jedi members are around, the costume I'm wearing in the NYC pics is actually part of my One Penn Plaza Avatar cosplay. Note the One Penn Plaza logo in the first pic, then look at my belt buckle. Also note the silver pinstripes of the robe, just like the real One Penn's striped facade.
I just wish I had set the camera to Movie mode and gotten my friend to film me saber-dancing next to One Astor Plaza, that would have been cool!
All that's missing is the headdress, which wasn't done at the time. I'm looking to upgrade the headdress with a prosthetic appliance that will look more lifelike, like it's part of my skull as opposed to an architectural model for my head. A cast latex prosthetic will also hold up better to combat:)
And a californian MSN chat buddy of mine is SO jealous of the borrowed Golden Gate Bridge hard hat in the first two pics!

I'd love it if I could get two other people, and cosplay the XYZ Buildings of Rockefeller Center, and yes, give them lightsabers:) I imagine the pics of us running around NYC would be priceless!

Purely unintentional, though now that I look at it, it is quite a nice effect. I have a few more duel shots with a longer shutter speed (roughly 4-6 seconds) and a video that i still need to pull off the school computer.

I love the wrap! I would like to know what you used and where I could get some as I'm interested in doing something similar to my sabers.

Oh, and to add my on topic reply, I haven't really gone anywhere yet, so just my room and a friend's house.

I have kind of the opposite problem. It's too tempting to take my saber with me everywhere I go. If my first saber had included a covertec clip I'd wear it on my belt every day.

as it is, it's been all around the Twin Cities (MN) Metro area including the Phantom menace midnight screening, and constantly over to my friend's house, lest my apprentice ambush me when i'm not carrying it.

And Vex, that wrap on your saber is indeed awesome. It looks like a shoelace, what is the material?

hmm.. I travel a lot. And just for giggles I would be ok bringing a saber with me everywhere. But how do customs respond on 13" of metal with electronics and a 36" poly-carbonate tube?

That is exactly the thing I DREAMED I'd see, but I didn't really expect it I don't think. It would be AMAZING to take sabers that many places.... Now I'm drooling. lol I have actually just been wondering how cool it would have been, I just found out a friend went to Shanghai over the summer. What if he could have taken a saber?

Can we try and take picture for this topic showing you (or your friend(s)) wielding a light saber on an obvious recognisable location in your country?

What do I mean with this?
For excample: I live in the Netherlands. I can make on on the beach of Scheveningen with the buildings in the background. I would also try and bring it to Itlay next time and take a picture in Rome with teh Colloseum in the background. Paris... try and have the Eiffeltower in the background/view. etc.

A photo in the coliseum would be amazing! Ahh!

It's a shame I wasn't into this hobby when I studied abroad in college.  I'd have pics in like 10 different European countries (Germany, Spain, Italy, France, etc)

Although the beach picture I posted earlier is from the Jersey Shore, Wildwood to be specific.  That's kinda famous right?

Hm, going to the Dominican in a week.  Wonder if I should take my saber...

I'd leave the blade at home, but I wonder if security would rather see it in my carry-on ("look, it's just a fancy flashlight") or x-ray it in my checked baggage ("Sir, I think we've found a pipe-bomb here").

Anyone have any stories to share about lightsabers vs. airport security?

Obviously I don't want to jeopardize my vacation nor would I like to toss my saber in to the can with all the discarded hand creams and water bottles people try to bring on board.  :)

I think if you called the airport and asked about it you might find out how to make it not become a problem. You can tell them why you want to take it (to get travel shots, similar to say, Flat Stanley, where people take the little cut out picture of Flat Stanley with them and put it in all their pictures to show where he's been and then mail him and some pics to someone else) and your worries that it looks suspicious. Explain what it is, metal housing, a battery pack, LED, speaker, and see what they say.

Mine has been.... nowhere.... SOTJ's house, my house, Stingie's apartment (when she was still in the US, of course). Nowhere interesting. Maybe I should scale a tall building and get on the news waving it around on the roof....

Mine has actually traveled to Indian Lake, Ohio where my grandma stays for the summer. I should get pics next time.

All i can picture is you waving it around yelling "I AM A JEDI!" like that Tracy Morgan clip they use on 30 Rock all the time.

So what exactly did you have to do to take it with you on the plane?

I have brought sabers to Manassas Virginia, Luray Virginia, and all the way up to Pittsburg Pennsylvania for lightsaber duels. The battles in Pittsburgh were probably the most difficult being as they were waged against my friend/nemesis, Blake. I'll likely be bringing them to Canada with me this winter.
