Title: Broken Sentinel V5 retention screw socket Post by: NTAvalon on June 24, 2022, 09:50:30 PM I ordered a Diamond Dark Sentinel LE v5 almost exactly a year ago (I received it exactly a year ago) and it's served me pretty well over the past year, but today while putting my blade in, something fell out of the retention screw socket. I've since lost the piece that fell out (carpeted floors), but it was small and circular. Now I simply cannot tighten the screw, meaning I can't put any blades or blade plugs in, making the saber is effectively useless unless as a purely display piece.
What can I do about this? Given the price of the saber, there's no way I can just buy another, the emitter can't just be swapped out, and I don't have enough money or know-how to justify buying a replacement case and swapping the internals. I'm just not sure what to do. Title: Re: Broken Sentinel V5 retention screw socket Post by: NTAvalon on June 25, 2022, 12:17:35 AM Not sure how to edit my post, so apologies for the double post.
If I HAVE to replace the body, could the Diamond controller internals be put into a Catalyst shell? I originally wanted a Dark Catalyst LE, but the Dark Sentinel LE v5 was cheaper, and I didn't want to save up for an extra few months to a year. I'd also appreciate if someone could help guide me through the process, if it comes to that. Thank you all in advance. Title: Re: Broken Sentinel V5 retention screw socket Post by: Maestro Jones on June 25, 2022, 12:18:24 AM You need a new set screw. You can get them at any hardware store. I believe it is an 8-32. A 1/8" should work fine.

Title: Re: Broken Sentinel V5 retention screw socket Post by: NTAvalon on June 29, 2022, 07:22:02 PM Okay, emergency update: it's not the screw. It's the hole on the hilt that the screw goes into, hence "screw socket" in the title. I mistakenly assumed earlier that "set screw" meant something different. The screw itself is just fine, and I even tried a few other screws kindly lended to my by friends who I've gifted mystery box sabers to.
So sadly, I'm still stuck. Is there any way to fix this? (Edit: I've contacted Ultrasabers Support. Hopefully they'll be lenient with me being a few days late for the 1 year limit. I would still like to know if there's a way to fix it myself, though, just in case.) Title: Re: Broken Sentinel V5 retention screw socket Post by: Cyclops942 on June 30, 2022, 05:59:23 PM Are there any threads left in the hole where the set screw goes (and fell out of)? It sounds like perhaps the threads got stripped, and you’ll need to drill a slightly larger hole, tap it with new threads, and use a larger-diameter set screw that matches the new threads.
Pictures would really help, I think. Title: Re: Broken Sentinel V5 retention screw socket Post by: MavRick on July 06, 2022, 09:36:47 PM Yes this ^^^ Or simply drill and tap a new hole for the set screw that you have. MTFBWY!
