Title: The Bane is back!
Post by: Ultra on November 17, 2010, 06:45:37 AM
The Beast is back!  The beloved Ultra Sabers Bane has been improved and re-released just in time for the Holidays.  And of course, we have sound, we have RGB, and we have RGB with sound.  And with stunt versions priced at $149, everyone can finally own one. How can we bring you such a premium saber at such a low price?  Because we're Ultra Sabers and we're awesome, that's how.

Fear not, the price is low, but the quality is outstanding! We're talking high grade aircraft aluminum, black anodizing, MHS compatible pommel, anodized aluminum covertec wheel, accurate milling under the emitter, and an MLS (Modular LED System) unit!!!!  Yes, you get all that for a buck fifty.

We put together an intro vid for you, so check it out and let me know what you think.  Thanks.

We will have them listed in our store soon.  We cannot guarantee how long our stock will last, so if you want one, don't delay too long.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the quick connect option on this saber for?  Is that for recharging or is it part of the MLS system?

Thanks

It's to solder quick disconnects onto your MLS unit and into the hilt so you can swap MLS units in and out.

Um, what is MLS? Sorry, I still know little about general things about your sabers.

It's ok, the MLS isn't all that well known.

MLS stands for Modular Light System.  It's an LED module that can be swapped in and out of the saber to change the LED.

Here's a video showing how it works:

It comes with one MLS unit and the LED is of course pre-installed.

Send a PM to Deep or email [email protected] to place an order for more MLS units.

So you guys are out of the single colour hilts, but still have the RGB hilts? Does this mean I can order a bane in a single color, and still end up with the RGB length hilt?
I actually hope so- one of the reasons I want RGB is because of that overlong hilt- I've got a prototype Omen about that size, and it's fun using that gigantic thing in sparring matches!

Unfortunately my hours have gone to h-e-double hockey sticks lately, and I might not be able to afford the $90 extra for RGB wiring. But I DO want a bane before they're all gone, even if it means I have to pick a single colour and get MHS wiring, which costs less.

...And I was able to scrape up the funds without messing myself up, my RGB bane is now ordered, I can't wait to play with my own monster saber!
And yes, I will be posting reviews when I get the thing:)

Congrats.  You will not be disappointed. The RGB Bane is by far one of the most impressive sabers out there. I am way happy with my purchase.  With the 15% off it was a steal too. My son and I fight over who gets to use it. We've had it for a few days now and I'm liking it more and more each day....versus some of our other sabers where the effect lasts for a day or so then it stays on the wall.

I'm very curious on exactly how the MLS works. Do I need to order another blade holder and LED (wiring as well) or just another LED and wiring? Also, just ordered the Bane in RGB with sound. If I get a single color tri-rebel (red is that I'm going for) will it be brighter with all three dice activated or will it be the same brightness as just the red dye on the RGB?

Really, with RGB there is no need to switch colors out because the RGB will cover every color VERY well. From what I have see, the shade of red is comparable to a P4 red (but that's just me, others may disagree). But I for one was very pleasantly surprised how bright each color was on the RGB saber I saw.

My advice: Stick with that you got. Your red will be just fine.

Cool. I got the chance to see a saber with a 10W and I kinda wish I hadn't hahaha! Couldn't pass up an RGB Bane though!

Running a 10W Red on alkalines is not a good idea anyways. That LED requires a boatload of power (remember, there are 4 dies running at the same time) and will suck your battery power dry quickly. I suggest a 5W LEDengine if you MUST have a nice crimson color. (not an U.S. option, but if you order more sabers that can have the LED swapped out, it would be cool)

I have read nothing but negatives when it comes to using Tri-Rebels. I don't think the RGB in the Bane is a Tri-Rebel, at least it doesn't look the part. The tri-Rebel arrangement is completely different and from what i gather useless as a saber LED due to no applicable optical solution.  But I hear you on the adding up the LED output on a tri-red LED and getting more light output. Caine is right though -- the red is very strong on the RGB.  Ultra if you are reading this, what brand LED is used in the RGB Bane and other RGB sabers? In your opinion would it even be possible to get an even brighter red using a tri-red version of said LED with the FX soundboard?

That was what I was going for with the comparison with the 10W. I was thinking running all 3 dice on the LED would maybe be a bit brighter than just the one on the RGB. The 10W is a battery drainer and expensive to set up... But it was really really bright!
