Title: My Monarch Staff
Post by: Dave of the Sith on April 13, 2012, 10:17:12 PM
Hello all. Just got my twin Monarchs in the mail today. I have to write about them as they are EPIC.

I bought a pair for dual weilding and for a saberstaff.

As a staff..this thing is beautiful! All of the machined grooves and choke points make it it very easy to grip. I was able to spin it at full speed with no problem at all.

As single sabers, they're even more awesome! Solidly machined and very comfortable in the hand. Especially for a 6' guy like me.

It's actually got some weight to it which only adds to it's scepter like stature and realism.

Here was my twin setup:
Silver finish
Red AV switches
Obsidian boards
Li-Ion setup
Blazing Red
Silver Flash On Clash
Standard 32" blades and 27" staff blades
(both Ultraedge Mid Grades)

They definitely are not delicate or dainty. These really are both beautiful and solid as Emory said on his vid. You really do have to havdle one to truly appreciate it.

Ultrasabers has really outdone themselves with the Monarch in my opinion. It has become the new pride of my collection and the envy of all of my saber community friends.

Thank you Ultrasabers for the amazing sabers! I'll post a video as well so you folks can see it as I rant about how cool these are!

very nice not one but two monarchs!  :) and that monarch with the obi pommel just adds so much more shape to an already shapely saber  8) By the way what are you using for a coupler for these sabers? its a little hard to tell in the first pic.

The coupler is a TCSS MHS coupler. Copper is my preferred color so it's got a hammered copper finish.
I do love the way that Obi pommel looks on it too! Very Old Republic with all of those curves and ringed sections. I know US offers a similar version for the Guardian. It would sit perfectly on a Dark Monarch.

It's really a beautiful saber. It'd look great in any color but my preferences would be Blazing Red, Violet Amethyst, Sentinel Yellow and both Blues. Not to say the other colors wouldn't sit well on it. Those are just my faves.

Seriously an awe inspiring saber!

Very nice review and very nice video.

I totally agree the Monarch is a very sweet saber and very under rated.

Like you said once you actually hold it you realize why this saber in unlike any other saber out there.  Once these start shipping and more and more people own them I think this will be as popular and sabers like the Bellicose and the Shock series.

P.S. - We've had a coupler similar to the one you use for a while now.  We just have so many projects in the works along with restocking sabers, it takes a long time for a project to go from an idea to being offered on the website.

I totally agree on it joining the ranks alongside of the Shock and Bellicose. It's a very innovative design and just seems to "feel right" when you grip it. What really sells it to me is the weight and solidity of it. Combine that with it's curves and rings and it practically screams "Old Republic."  I'm really impressed by this model.

I'm glad you guys offer the smooth type coupler too. I like the sound couplers you offer but I tend to grip the staff to spin it by the center line when using one hand and find my smooth one lets me spin more fluidly. I understand US must be very busy and if these Monarchs are any indicator of what's to come, I think you guys will continue to blow us away with these awesome designs!

Please keep up the great work Emory and Alex!

Nice. I'm also curious about the nickle plated finish for the Monarchs. This made me want one more. :P

Added some Rawlings Genuine Leather Bat Grip with an adhesive backing. The grip only adds a more realistic look and amazing handling to these beautiful sabers! I was dual spinning and wielding both with no slipping in my hands at all.

I can't say it enough folks. If you get a chance to handle one of these, you'll see what I mean. Just awesome!

yeah they add a really nice contrast, and that stuff is pretty good as a grip, even when your hands start to get  a bit sweaty, good idea

Although I personally would have had BH blades to create a true "Monarch" (from VB) theme.

What form is this saber good for?

I think it would be great for form II (Single Hand/Dooku Style)
As well as Form V (Brute/Anakin Style)

Possible VII (Vaapad/Mace)  Good for overhead strikes

These are the forms I think would work well for this saber!

how do you compare the monarch to your other ultrasabers, in terms of weight, feel, and handling when dueling?
