Title: Jedi/Sith costume choices, the black and white version
Post by: Master Rel on April 18, 2012, 10:31:39 PM
A couple quick thoughts, an informal poll as direct polls are not available at my fingertips...

I mean black and white choices, meaning this or that...not so much in-between...yes or no, black or white, etc.

*****(all of these are in regards to actual costuming choices, if you duel in costume then that also)*****

1. Capes/cloaks...that general heavier formal over clothes look
a. yes please
b. no thanks

2. Make-up...if you are portraying the human aspect, do you pursue make-up, wigs/hair pieces, etc.
a. absolutely
b. not for me

3. Jedi and Sith...do you have multiple personalities you portray; as in more than one character
a. yes I do, more flavors
b. no I do not, I focus

4. Do you favor a particular period with the EU or tend to present a generic character that can fit in
a. specific
b. general

5. Percentage...what measure is your comfort zone for costume commitment
a. minimalist
b. extreme

6. Foundation...the character, a creature of your design or established vision
a. original
b. tribute

7. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
a. Jedi
b. sith

8. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
a. Human (forehead types, three fingers, etc. are still in this group)
b. Alien (aliens, as in not so much humanoid per say)

*****

Surely there would be some in between'ers, like the Boba's and Han's...but include these in comments below after the 1-8  :)

Curious minds want to know!

Kham, I am guessing this would be the focus of the $2500?

1. Capes/cloaks...that general heavier formal over clothes look
b. no thanks - I don't want to hide all the other stuff I have going on, but in Canada it can be chilly - so having a cape/cloak that I can use to get where I'm going is a good thing.  (I'm not going to wear a parka over a costume, it all has to match)

2. Make-up...if you are portraying the human aspect, do you pursue make-up, wigs/hair pieces, etc.
a. absolutely - I'm Sithy, so that look can be enhanced with make-up/contacts

3. Jedi and Sith...do you have multiple personalities you portray; as in more than one character
b. no I do not, I focus - For now I'm on a Sith kick, I find Jedi a little... bland.

4. Do you favor a particular period with the EU or tend to present a generic character that can fit in
a. specific - My current character fits into a specific time period and even organization (referenced in my sig).

5. Percentage...what measure is your comfort zone for costume commitment
b. extreme

6. Foundation...the character, a creature of your design or established vision
a. original - I always create original characters.  I've always gotten a kick out of creating something that fits with whichever universe I'm drawing from, but isn't an established character from it.  I don't want to be one of five Darth Vaders or Cobra Commanders at the party, I wanna be my own dude.

7. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
b. sith - OMG, it would have so many cybernetics and everything would light up, make noise, blink, buzz, twirl, deploy etc.

8. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
b. Alien (aliens, as in not so much humanoid per say) - Hmm...  Mon Calamari cyborg Sith anyone?  Hehehehe...

Fun poll, thanks Relmeob!

1. Capes/cloaks...that general heavier formal over clothes look
a. yes please - Generally, I tend to have a cape or cloak.  Being from Northern Oregon, it is almost a requirement in the colder months.

2. Make-up...if you are portraying the human aspect, do you pursue make-up, wigs/hair pieces, etc.
b. not for me - The worst I do is shave my head, but I do that normally anyway.

3. Jedi and Sith...do you have multiple personalities you portray; as in more than one character
a. yes I do, more flavors - I have both a light and dark character that I portray.  The light is in a non-armored samurai-inspired Jedi outfit (hakama and wide tabards).  The dark is in an armored samurai0inspired outfit, though the armor is more Swarzy.

4. Do you favor a particular period with the EU or tend to present a generic character that can fit in
b. general - though my characters could fit pretty much anywhere from Dawn of the Jedi up to Legacy.

5. Percentage...what measure is your comfort zone for costume commitment
b. extreme - I am a member of the 501st, RL, MMCC, TJA, TDE, 405th, and have costumes from about four different animes (including a full Briareos).

6. Foundation...the character, a creature of your design or established vision
a. original - My main two characters are my own, the rest are costumes of established characters.

7. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
b. Sith - Darth Malgus

8. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
b. Alien (aliens, as in not so much humanoid per say) - Voolviff Monn, the Shistavanen Jedi from the Clone Wars Micro-series

Volund, I had to Google Voolviff Monn because I wasn't familiar with him and was immediately reminded of my werewolf costume from Halloween a few years back - had to share!

1. Capes/cloaks...that general heavier formal over clothes look
Although it adds some serious weight (and overheating factor) to a costume, I love the awesome factor of a robe, cloak, or jacket.  Personally I prefer the cloak for my Jedi (as a nod to ROTJ Luke).

2. Make-up...if you are portraying the human aspect, do you pursue make-up, wigs/hair pieces, etc.
It’s a cool idea, but not for me.  I like to keep it simple personally.

3. Jedi and Sith...do you have multiple personalities you portray; as in more than one character
Currently I don’t have more than one costume, but I wouldn’t be against the idea of it.  I’m even working on a Jacen Solo GAG outfit…

4. Do you favor a particular period with the EU or tend to present a generic character that can fit in
Similar to #3’s answer, my current costume is a Grey Jedi one that could fit in anywhere (though it’s stylistically more Old Republic era), whereas the Jacen Solo one will be from a specific time.

5. Percentage...what measure is your comfort zone for costume commitment
Minimalist.  I don’t get to use a costume enough to go all out on it!

6. Foundation...the character, a creature of your design or established vision
Original for now, but I’d be interested in doing tributes.

7. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
I’m gonna say Jedi, probably Luke from ROTJ.  That black outfit is so damn stylish.

8. Best case...given that you had a budget of $2500 just for a professionally SFX costume only (no sabers)
Human, not really interested in the more exotic options.  I’m just boring like that ;)
